The Role:
Fusion Pharmaceuticals is opening the role of Scientist, Animal Science to support the planning, execution, reporting, and review of a variety of in vivo studies, as well as the day-to-day husbandry and care of laboratory animals. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across a high-paced, cross-functional R&D environment and contribute to the delivery of high-quality experimental data in compliance with applicable regulatory, statutory, company, and SHE requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively and independently to execute all aspects of in vivo studies, performing technical procedures (e.g. IV, SC, IP injections, blood collections, tissue dissections) with a high degree of proficiency.
- Perform animal husbandry tasks, including feeding animals, cleaning animal housing, changing bedding, and caring for sick animals, including rotational weekend and holiday coverage.
- Train and mentor junior technicians conducting tests and experiments, providing direction and guidance as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, statutory, and company standards and frameworks.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date records to meet documentation requirements, including SOPs.
- Stay informed about advancements in laboratory animal science through professional development and work toward obtaining relevant qualifications.
- Execute assigned responsibilities in strict adherence to local Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) requirements.
Qualifications:
- University or college degree in a scientific field, or relevant experience;
- Understanding of the principles and concepts associated with own subject/specialist area and an appreciation of the relevant science and literature;
- Ability to perform independently laboratory experiments to the required standard on a consistent basis.
- Ability to work well in a cross-functional team.
Desirable:
- Membership (or working towards) in relevant professional body (e.g. CALAS)
- Previous experience working in pharmaceuticals or CRO; General understanding of other areas across R&D.
- Experience with radioactivity and CL2 work.

Annual base salary for this position ranges from 80,233.60 to 105,306.60.AstraZeneca is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation opportunities to all colleagues. Our compensation policies and practices have been designed to allow colleagues to progress through the salary range over time as they progress in their role. The range provided in this posting represents an offer pay range used in a majority of situations. The base pay offered will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, and other specific business and organizational needs. In some cases, offers outside the range may also be considered to address unique circumstances.
In addition, our permanent positions offer an annual Variable Pay Bonus/Short Term Incentive opportunity as well as eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (if applicable to role).
