About the Role
The Senior Medical Director, Hypertension shapes product and disease area strategy, provides strategic direction for evidence generation, education and publication, and engages extensively externally to further the scientific leadership of AZ. It is a key scientific role that reports directly to the Medical Head – Hypertension, within the BioPharmaceuticals Business Unit’s US Medical CVRM franchise.
What you’ll do:
Provide medical leadership and subject matter expertise for the creation, delivery and evolution of disease area and brand strategies and plans
Build external collaborations (e.g. relationships with KEEs, investigators, scientific associations, digital therapeutics/diagnostics partners) and seek and incorporate external advice to drive strategy
Lead the product and disease area Advisory Board strategy
Lead the product and disease area Externally Sponsored Research (ESR) program
Shape and drive strategic publications plans and evidence-generation initiatives
Provide medical leadership and subject matter expertise for regulatory and labelling interactions
Through partnership and innovative thinking, anticipate future trends and needs in the marketplace
Essential for the role:
MD, PhD, or PharmD
Medical/clinical/scientific expertise in CVRM
5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, ideally in Medical Affairs or relevant years of experience in the Medical / Healthcare field
Strategic and innovative thinker with an executive presence
Demonstrated track record delivering results in a complex matrix environment, building capabilities, and leading large-scale impactful medical initiatives
Proven ability to collaborate and build internal and external networks
Strong analytical mindset and ability to quickly assess large amounts of information and distil into key messages and actions
Experience and/or appreciation of product launches and product life cycle management
Persuasive oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver impactful presentations
Proven ability to collaborate with individuals of diverse experience and backgrounds, across varying functions, levels within the company, or external organizations, to effectively deliver on goals
Strong business acumen, familiarity with the US healthcare system, and key regulations in the pharmaceutical industry
The annual base pay for this position ranges from $243,586.40 - $365,379.60 USD Annual USD Annual and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program. Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
