The Axial Programme will be powered by S/4HANA a new ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system which will be implemented right across the organisation and will provide our business with standardised processes, improved financial management, common data and real time reporting, transforming the way we work through our entire supply chain - from bench to patient.
The new system will be used by more than 20,000 employees daily, is foundational to all AZ entities and is central to most core business processes. This is a once in a generation programme for AstraZeneca and will shape our ways of working globally for many years to come.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead small to larger projects teams from initiation to close, to deliver or support delivery of effective solutions that meet approved customer and business needs. Project Managers are accountable for resolving and delivering solutions to approved budget and schedule commitments whilst meeting required quality and compliance standards.
Focus areas include risk and issue management and delivery of business benefit; and handling expectations of a wide group of people ranging from Senior Leadership to members of support group of systems.
What you’ll do
Collaborate with vendors and internal partners(BTGs) to coordinate the integration of 3rd party applications with SAP S/4 HANA while ensuring adherence to AZ project delivery standards
Agree and deliver plans for projects / programmes (or contribution to a section of a larger project), including activities, resources, costs, roles, responsibilities, and quality as defined in the IT Project Management Methodology.
Lead project / programme budgets, forecasts, tasks, schedules, risks, organizational change, and status to support effective decisions and project reporting to collaborators and review boards. Coordinate status and delivery of project workstreams. Identify / handle dependencies between projects (intra-program and across portfolio).
Track and ensure completion of deliverables across every phase of project from initiation to handover to support organization.
Work closely with global cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, provide regular updates, and ensure seamless communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Handle and mitigate project risks, proactively identifying and addressing potential challenges.
Communicate project progress, updates, and risks to partners, including executives and team members.
Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, promoting effective teamwork and knowledge sharing.
Handle changes to project/programme scope, ensuring that all impacts and changes are approved and appropriately communicated to collaborators and review boards.
Develop service transition plans including controlled hand-over into support and maintenance.
Ensure the project team adheres to all standards including quality, and compliance, as well as processes, defined technical capabilities, and standard methodologies. Establish program governance and lead Decision Point reviews, member Steering Committee.
Support continued development of a world-class centre of excellence for project management capabilities and ensure that standard methodology is adopted and reinforced.
Essential for the role
Strong project and programme management skills, typically 8–10 years, as a Project Manager across the full project lifecycle.
Prior project management experience delivering SAP-related projects is required.
Strong leadership skills, with experience leading and developing project teams with a diverse mix of skills and capabilities.
Broad understanding of IT systems and technology implemented within a business context.
Experience with project management and delivery methodologies and standards.
Strong communication, relationship-building, and consulting skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Sound knowledge of financial management and benefits delivery practices.
Experience establishing and leading project controls.
Strong stakeholder management skills.
Experience managing external suppliers.
Desirable for the role
Experience with SAP Activate, as well as traditional and agile delivery methods, including familiarity with SAFe.
Project and/or programme management certifications.
Experience working in a global organisation where stakeholders and project team members are geographically dispersed.
Pharmaceutical industry experience and/or experience delivering in a highly regulated environment
