Senior Director, Field Physician - Rare Endocrinology & Rare Tumors

The Field Physician – Rare Endocrinology and Rare Tumors, US Medical Affairs, is a board- certified disease specialist with extensive clinical practice experience. They will have excellent peer relationships with key opinion leaders in their disease area. The candidate should have significant experience in their medical specialty and would thrive proactively engaging internal and external leaders and will serve as a medical expert for their brand and disease area. The person provides expert input into strategy and materials for medical deliverables within USMA and contributes/supports central and field projects to achieve medical objectives for the disease area. The ideal candidate will also have strong commercial aptitude and/or experience, including proven ability to translate and align commercial and scientific goals and objectives. They work closely with the disease area head, medical directors, MSLs,  Regional Director(s) for the disease area and cross-functionally within GMA and clinical development teams to support developing, and implementing USMA therapy area strategies and tactics, in alignment with US Medical Affairs business strategy, reporting to the head of the TA in US Medical Affairs.

Accountabilities:

  • Field US activities focusing on addressing key questions raised by top KOLs, academic institutions, payors, PAG and professional societies across our TA portfolio.

  • Plays an integral part in the planning and participation of national and regional advisory boards.

  • Help with content creation for speaker programs.

  • Plays an integral part in the planning and training of promotional speakers.

  • Serves as a presenter for both Promotional and Medical Affairs speaker presentations.

  • Provides input on brand strategy and plans.

  • Provides clinical education and training for internal stakeholders such as MSLs, commercial and sales teams.

  • Provides input into Early/ late-stage development and LCM programs.

  • Acts as internal expert for brand and medical needs

  • Helps to address issues in key strategic markets beyond US.

  • Provides scientific assessment for appropriate Business Development opportunities.

  • Provides Scientific/clinical expertise for our LCM and future asset development.

  • Work closely with our MSLs as part of the customer engagement plan.

  • Maintain/continue to develop medical and scientific knowledge of designated disease areas, including current treatment strategies, current and upcoming competitors, and new disease developments.

Essential skills/experience:

  • Graduate of a recognized medical school and recipient of an M.D. or D.O. degree

  • Board certification/eligibility in specific fields (Endocrine, Genetics, Rheumatology, Bone Disorders)

  • Greater than or equal to 10 years of clinical practice experience in the relevant areas

  • Experience of working on clinical studies

  • Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with peers and with partners outside of the team.

  • High level of emotional intelligence

  • Strong business acumen, including working knowledge of changing U.S. payer and provider landscape.

  • Proven ability to interact productively with both commercial and scientific colleagues.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross functional teams.

  • Familiarity with OPDP, PhRMA code, and key regulations in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Highest level of ethics and integrity

  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally.
