Director, Commercial Diagnostics
The Director, Commercial Diagnostics is a pivotal leadership position responsible for driving national strategy and execution to enhance the diagnosis of hATTR-PN. As a member of the Leadership Team, the DCD collaborates with Cross Functional Leadership to develop and implement innovative diagnostic strategies. The team fosters multidisciplinary customer collaboration across IDNs and key physician groups to enable early and accurate diagnosis of hATTR-PN. They also implement innovative patient identification solutions and digital tools in partnership with Marketing Innovation, IDN team, and Medical teams. Key customers include non-treating diagnostic MDs, genetic counselors, non-treating multidisciplinary teams involved in the testing process (nurses, patient navigators), and advocacy groups. IDN specialty pharmacy and C-Suite partnerships will be coordinated with Access Strategy and IDN National Account Directors and Clinical Account Directors.
Accountabilities
1. National Strategy Input and Execution
• Collaborate with the ATTR Cross Functional Leadership Team to provide input in the national strategy and implement comprehensive strategies aligned with diagnostic goals.
• Oversee the development of innovative approaches to accelerate broader hATTR-PN patient identification.
• Lead initiatives aimed at operationalizing the diagnostic screening of hATTR-PN within health systems.
• Drive the enhancement of the care pathway for hATTR-PN diagnosis by partnering with health systems to create comprehensive care pathways and establish a cohesive multidisciplinary approach.
• Provide strategic direction to Associate Director, Commercial Diagnostics (ADCD’s) to ensure consistency, efficiency, and measurable impact across the nation.
2. Leadership and Team Development
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of ADCDs, fostering a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, innovation, and results.
• Facilitate training and development programs to enhance team competencies in account management, partner engagement, and strategic execution.
• Act as a liaison between ADCDs and other cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and resource optimization.
3. Stakeholder Engagement and Influence
• In coordination with the IDN team and consistent with the diagnostic opportunities build and maintain strategic relationships with C-suite executives, IDN leaders, ACOs, specialty pharmacies, and influential physician groups in cardiology and neurology.
• Lead national-level discussions to align diagnostic protocols and treatment pathways with diagnostic solutions.
4. Driving Market Innovation
• Partner with ATTR Leadership Team to identify and address market challenges, including diagnostic barriers.
• Champion the integration of biomarker testing workflows and advanced diagnostics to streamline patient identification.
• Lead the development of solutions tailored to diverse market segments.
5. Compliance and Reporting
• Ensure all strategies and initiatives adhere to AstraZeneca’s Code of Ethics and regulatory guidelines.
Essential Skills/Experience
• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or related industries, with at least 5 years in national or regional account management.
• Proven ability to lead national-level, cross-functional teams, and influence without authority.
• Extensive experience engaging IDNs, ACOs, and specialty pharmacies.
• Strong understanding of reimbursement models for inpatient and outpatient care.
• Demonstrated expertise in rare diseases, biologics, or specialty products.
Desirable Skills/Experience
• Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, PharmD, PhD) in a related field.
• Experience in cardiology, neurology, or precision medicine diagnostics.
• Background in strategic brand development or national sales leadership.
