US BBU Commercial Learning, a function of the Innovation and Business Excellence (IBEX) team, is dedicated to developing and delivering innovative, accessible and tailored learning solutions to empower individuals and teams to drive growth and elevate capability as the US BBU leads the way in advancing healthcare solutions for patients.   Our enterprise learning team owns the lifecycle of training for our US BBU commercial field roles from onboarding to ongoing commercial capability development, from bespoke team interventions to enterprise academies.  

Accountabilities:

As the Commercial Learning (CLx) Associate Director – CVRM, you will serve as the Commercial Learning primary point of contact who interfaces with our disease state cross functional partners in brand, sales leadership, market access, and medical affairs.   In this role youwill have a significant responsibility for the planning and launch success of new medicines, new medicine formulations, and new product indications.   This highly visible and critical role is responsible for ensuring that the commercial strategy and launch planning and execution is successfully translated into action.  This role requires strong matrix management, influencing skills and collaboration with multiple cross functional stakeholders to deliver on responsibilities focusing on a wide range of core activities from people and process to tools and training.   

Specifically, you will lead learning content design, manage stakeholders, and partner with brand and sales leaders to deliver world-class learning experiences.   You will be asked to develop innovative training solutions for field teams, grounded in adult learning principles, for those that maintain in-field responsibilities, as well as those newly onboarding to AstraZeneca.   Success requires leveraging internal and external partnerships to efficiently and effectively build cohesive plans with actionable timelines, while navigating ambiguity and providing decisive direction and action in launch planning activities.    

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 2 years in pharmaceutical sales or pharmaceutical/life science headquarters experience 
  • 7+ years of healthcare, pharmaceutical or medical experience
  • Demonstrated leadership in building a culture of lifelong learning 
  • Experience in learning & development, curriculum design, and delivery preferred 
  • Growth mindset, agility in a changing environment, and passion for lifelong learning 
  • Ability to effectively present and communicate ideas in large, diverse groups and one-on-one 
  • Excellent writing, editing, organizational, and communication skills 
  • Patient-centric mindset and dedication to keeping the patient at the center of all you do 

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • CVRM and/or highly specialized disease state experience strongly preferred 
  • Product launch experience strongly preferred 
  • Previous experience in sales, marketing, access strategy, and/or commercial learning is preferred, with exposure to multiple departmental disciplines 
  • Strong vendor/agency management experience;  strong project management skills desirable to effectively manage goals, priorities, resources and initiatives 
  • Prior people or matrix management experience
