Summary of Position:
AstraZeneca Canada Inc. is seeking a Senior Manager, Communications to join our team, reporting directly to the Director of Therapy Area Communications. The successful candidate will sit within the Corporate Affairs and Sustainability (CA&S) function and will be responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies across AstraZeneca’s Biopharmaceutical Business including Respiratory & Immunology and Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM), and other key internal and external communication priorities.
In particular, the Senior Manager, Communications will:
- Lead communication efforts for our Respiratory & Immunology and CVRM businesses, crafting and implementing comprehensive therapeutic area and brand communication plans aligned with our key objectives.
- Spearhead both external and internal communication strategies to amplify AstraZeneca’s biopharmaceutical research investments and partnerships, strengthening our corporate reputation and leadership in therapeutic areas among target audiences.
- Serve as a senior advisor on communication matters to leaders in Marketing, Market Access, Scientific Affairs, and the Executive Team. Work closely with Corporate Affairs & Sustainability colleagues, particularly those in Patient Engagement and Government Relations, to develop and implement therapeutic area strategies and plans.
- Communicate key brand milestones and develop strategies for issues management as needed.
- Drive the creation and execution of critical change and internal engagement communication plans.
- Manage and respond to media inquiries related to therapeutic and brand communications.
- Collaborate effectively with external consultants and agency partners to ensure superior delivery of projects and programs.
- Foster regular collaboration with Global Corporate Affairs colleagues to ensure alignment and harness communication efforts across Canada, the U.S., and the global AstraZeneca network.
What We’re Looking For:
- 12+ years of experience in corporate and/or consulting communications.
- Proven expertise in crafting, managing, and implementing communication strategies and plans within complex organizations.
- Strong skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and planning.
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with senior business leaders, media, and external stakeholder groups and partners.
- In-depth, senior-level knowledge of the biopharmaceutical industry and healthcare is essential.
- Ability to thrive in global teams and large cross-functional settings, adeptly leading by influence and collaboration.
- Exceptional written, spoken, and interpersonal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail; bilingualism is an advantage.
- Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment, adapting to change, and driving projects forward swiftly.
- A collaborative teammate who excels in working with a diverse array of internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with a demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit, enthusiasm, and creativity.
- Experience in policy, government affairs, and stakeholder management is a strong asset.
