Acerta Pharma in Oss, the Netherlands, is fully integrated in the AstraZeneca group and dedicated to the discovery and development of novel therapies against haematological malignancies. We have recently moved into our new research facility, the Marie-Curie building in the Pivot Park, with state-of-the-art laboratories in place.

Your challenge:
As a Scientist Analytical Chemistry / Separation Scientist you will work with and support your colleagues in the chemistry labs to improve and maintain our efficiency in organic synthesis. You will be part of our team of analytical and separation scientists and work independently on the purification and analyses of new molecules, contributing to the progression of our projects towards clinical development. You will be applying your problem-solving capability and creativity to optimize processes and methods. Together with your colleagues, you ensure that the analytical / purification laboratory remains optimally operational and safe.
What will you be doing?
• Your main task is to purify and analyze new bioactive compounds, using state-of-the-art separation techniques. In doing so, you will independently develop and optimize chromatographic methods for the best purification and analyses of new molecules.
• You take an active part in overseeing our analytical / purification laboratory, making sure the instruments are up and running and maintained reliably.
• Together with your colleagues you proactively will look for opportunities to streamline our separation workstream to enable a high throughput.
• You will be part of the AZ ASC (Analytical, Structural, Chromatography) community and actively participate in regular AZ wide meetings where analytical and organizational / operational questions are addressed.
What do you bring?
• Completed HBO (BSc) or Master (MSc) in Chemistry with organic and / or analytical chemistry as a specialism (or equivalent). Candidates who bring a PhD level are overqualified for this role
• Minimum of 2 years practical experience with analytical chemistry / separation techniques in the field of organic chemistry, ideally including the use of UPLC/LC-MS, preparative chromatography, SFC, chiral separations
• Fluent in English, speaking and writing
• A curious and proactive mindset, you enjoy exploring new techniques and continuous learning
• Strong collaborative attitude with good communication skills; you enjoy working with others
• You are already living in the Netherlands or are willing to move to the Netherlands within daily travel distance to our site in Oss.
