Introduction to role:

Are you ready to lead and inspire a team dedicated to transforming the landscape of GI cancer treatment? As the MSL Manager, you'll collaborate with leadership to craft strategic plans that align with corporate and medical objectives. You'll drive the daily activities of a dynamic MSL team, focusing on personal and team development, while fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Accountabilities:

  • Demonstrate ongoing scientific and business expertise relevant to the AZ portfolio.
  • Support the Medical and Cross Functional Plans by developing and leading field-based MSL teams.
    • Align the MSL plan with Brand Medical Strategy and implement medical strategy at a regional level.
    • Contribute as a member on internal project teams representing medical and customer perspectives.
    • Support customer insight collection and communicate findings to Medical Oncology Leadership.
    • Ensure alignment of MSL activities with other cross-functional roles through coordination.
  • Serve as a role model by cultivating personal accountability and ownership of success.
  • Run training, professional development, and performance management for team members.
  • Support the development of MSL capabilities in scientific exchange and strategic relationships.
  • Collaborate closely with other MSL managers to create consistency and drive team performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all local regulatory requirements and AZ policies.
  • Lead and supervise team financial resources, dedicating up to 30% of time to head office or field activities.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Previous experience as a healthcare professional with an advanced degree with scientific expertise (PhD, MD, PharmD, MSc)
  • At least 5 years of MSL experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Previous experience leading a team and developing team performance
  • Effective and demonstrated communication (both verbal and written) and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and teamwork skills
  • Travel required (Local, Regional, and National)

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in the therapeutic area of Oncology
  • Advanced degree in science or clinical qualification, with relevant scientific experience
  • At least five years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in Medical Affairs or Clinical Development
  • Experience in product launch preparation and execution
  • Experience developing and/or driving product strategy
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for mentoring others
  • Thorough knowledge of local regulatory requirements
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Ability to travel (percentage varies with geography)
  • Previous management experience, preferably of a field-based team
  • Doctorate Degree, Medical Degree, Pharm D, or MSc in clinical or scientific field
