Intern, HCP Engagement Operations
Overview
Join a high-impact team driving quality across Alexion, AstraZeneca’s Rare Disease division, supporting US Healthcare Professional (HCP) engagement activities. As an Intern or having equivalent experience within the provider engagement management function, you will help enable flawless, compliant, and effective engagement. Your work will cover a variety of commercial activities connecting the organization with healthcare providers and patients.
This role offers an outstanding opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the US rare disease market while working from Canada. You will partner with colleagues across Marketing, Sales, and external agencies/vendors. You will also support high-visibility initiatives such as commercial sponsorships, speaker programs, advisory boards, and other HCP-facing engagements, while also contributing to AI enablement, process improvement, data quality, and content/document management. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated graduate to build real-world experience at the intersection of operations, innovation, and business strategy in a collaborative, patient-focused environment.
Accountabilities
- Support AI and chatbot initiatives by helping organize, review, and refine FAQ content for representative-facing chatbot andAI tools to improve usability, accuracy, and operational effectiveness.
- Assist with SharePoint migration from BOX by organizing files, validating document placement, supporting content cleanup, and helping ensure materials are structured for easy access and ongoing governance.
- Contribute to SOP and work instruction cleanup by reviewing documentation, identifying outdated or duplicative content, and partnering with team members to improve consistency, clarity, and alignment with current ways of working.
- Support survey data cleanup efforts by reviewing records, identifying discrepancies and validating data quality.
- Provide analytical support across projects by supervising progress, identifying risks or gaps, summarizing findings, and helping maintain momentum across multiple concurrent initiatives.
Essential Skills/Experiences
- Strong analytical skills, capable of reviewing information, identifying patterns, assessing issues, and recommending practical solutions.
- Strong AI and digital tool aptitude, including comfort working with Microsoft AI Agents, AI-enabled processes, and workflow improvements supported by technology.
- Highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks, maintaining documentation, and prioritizing effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Keen attention to detail, capable of quality checking work, comparing and contrasting information, and ensuring consistency across documents, systems, and datasets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating proficiency in collaborating across teams and supporting clear, accurate documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; familiarity with SharePoint and Smartsheet is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while supporting cross-functional projects and meeting deadlines.
- Comfort working within a structured and regulated business environment, with sensitivity to process rigor and documentation standards.
- The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. As is typical of an office-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation, to use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; collaborate with others; and maintain general availability during standard business hours.
- This intern must be a current undergraduate or graduate student.
Desirable Skills/Experiences
- Experience or coursework related to AI tools, knowledge management, business analytics, process improvement, or data governance.
- Appreciation for operating in a highly regulated environment with defined work instructions and compliance expectations.
- Ability to find opportunities for greater efficiency, improved organization, and stronger oversight.
- Technology-savvy, with a can-do attitude toward testing, implementation, and continuous improvement.
This role is a 4-month paid contract position, which starts in September 2026. Our position will be based in our Mississauga head office and allow for flexible working arrangements working both onsite (2-3 times per week) and virtually.

Annual base salary for this position ranges from 42,908.00 to 56,316.75.AstraZeneca is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation opportunities to all colleagues. Our compensation policies and practices have been designed to allow colleagues to progress through the salary range over time as they progress in their role. The range provided in this posting represents an offer pay range used in a majority of situations. The base pay offered will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, and other specific business and organizational needs. In some cases, offers outside the range may also be considered to address unique circumstances.
In addition, our permanent positions offer an annual Variable Pay Bonus/Short Term Incentive opportunity as well as eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (if applicable to role).
