Introduction to role
In support of Ops 2030 Intelligent Supply, the SHSC program is a series of capabilities that use data across E2E systems, analyzes impact, simulates scenarios, prescribes actions and learns to adapt future recommendations, leveraging the power of Artificial Intelligence and the existing enterprise technology platforms.
This position will be at the forefront of steering AstraZeneca's self-healing supply chain initiative (SHSC). This strategic role demands not only excellence in leadership but also a meticulous understanding of AstraZeneca's supply chain ecosystem. The Sr. Director will foster collaboration across functions, drive the program’s vision, and ensure successful execution aligned with the company's strategic objectives.
The SHSC Program Sr. Director reports to the Executive Director of Intelligent Supply Chain and will oversee a team of 5 FTEs across different locations. The program has a 5-year budget of $60m+and will incorporate new tools and technologies into the AstraZeneca technology stack. The program will coordinate with the other two pillars of Intelligent Supply: AI-powered Drug Development and Autonomous Manufacturing, to ensure technology is deployed consistently and efficiently across AstraZeneca Global Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:Define and articulate the vision for the self-healing supply chain initiative, ensuring it aligns with AstraZeneca’s strategic objectives. Develop long-term strategies and roadmaps to guide the project from conception to completion, adapting as necessary to emerging trends and business needs.
Operational Oversight:Oversee the day-to-day management of the program, ensuring that all operations are executed smoothly and efficiently.Allocate resources effectively, prioritizing initiatives based on strategic importance and potential impact.Regularly review project deliverables and timelines, making adjustments as necessary to maintain alignment with objectives.Day to day line management of the 5 person SHSC team, comprised of business leads, Data and IT leads, and change management and communication lead.
Program Delivery and Execution: Develop comprehensive business cases that articulate the return on investment, business value, and strategic alignment of proposed initiatives. Implement robust business benefit tracking mechanisms to evaluate the success and impact of solutions within their team.
Stakeholder Engagement:Establish and nurture relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, supply chain partners, and external contractors.Facilitate regular updates and communication channels to ensure transparency and alignment across all levels of the organization.Lead stakeholder meetings and presentations, effectively communicating progress, challenges, and successes.The role will be the main point of contact for the consultants involved in the program.
Risk and Performance Management:Implement risk management frameworks to proactively identify and mitigate potential project risks and challenges.Develop KPIs and performance metrics to evaluate the success of the program, ensuring insights are used to drive continuous improvement.Conduct regular risk assessments, adapting strategies as needed to address evolving risks and opportunities.
Cultural Change Leadership:Promote a culture of innovation and readiness to adapt within the team, encouraging exploration of new processes and technologies.Lead change management efforts to align organizational culture with strategic goals.
Scope
This role has a global remit, engaging with AstraZeneca’s multinational supply chain operations to ensure program success and alignment with strategic objectives.
Essential Skills & Experience
Extensive years of experience in strategic program management of large-scale digital transformations with cross functional teams, preferably within supply chain operations (e.g., planning, logistics)
Deep understanding of AstraZeneca’s supply chain and business processes.
Experience with digital supply chain tools and platforms (e.g., ERP systems, APS systems) from a management perspective.
Proven track record of successful collaboration with IT departments, ensuring alignment and collaboration.
Desirable:
Experience in a pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, understanding its regulatory environment.
Experience in a global role with exposure to international supply chain challenges.
Proficiency in project management methodologies such as Agile as well as the AstraZeneca Project Management Framework
Familiarity with Decision Intelligence platforms
Familiarity with AstraZeneca’s Supply Chain systems such as OMP, OneNetwork, Project 44
