As a Health Economics Manager at AstraZeneca, you will co-lead with Value and Access (V&A) colleagues to develop high-quality national HTA submissions. You will collaborate with national HTA organisations, collaborators, customers, and cross-functional colleagues to secure access and funding for our transformative medicines. Your expertise in the UK market access environment will be crucial in developing efficient HTA strategies and leading UK pricing strategies.
Accountabilities
- Lead the delivery of HTA submissions, including strategy development and communication of risks and mitigation plans with internal cross-functional collaborators.
- Collaborate closely with V&A colleagues on the strategy and execution of HTA submissions.
- Work with the global HEOR function to shape cost utility analysis models, detailed literature reviews, network meta-analyses, and other payer-related materials for HTA.
- Tailor final deliverables to meet UK HTA needs, including budget impact analysis development.
- Collaborate with pricing colleagues to inform UK pricing strategy for launch/in-line brands, considering pricing governance.
- Lead AstraZeneca responses to NICE/NHSE/DoH and other access-related activities.
- Engage effectively with HTA bodies and represent AstraZeneca at public committee meetings and other HTA-associated meetings as required.
- Collaborate closely with Government Affairs and other relevant internal and external collaborators.
- Act as a subject matter expert on access and funding pathways at national and regional levels.
- Collaborate with the New Product Planning Lead to manage UK PharmaScan entries for AZ pipeline products and prepare for new launches.
- Maintain an understanding of the NHS environment and how policies/policy changes might impact access.
- Ensure compliance with all AstraZeneca and ABPI governance frameworks and policies.
Essential Skills/Experience
- Postgraduate qualification in health economics
- 3+ years experience developing HE content for HTA submissions in either a HEOR agency or in the pharmaceutical industry
- Strong understanding of HTA needs and proven experience of developing and delivering high-quality HTA submissions
- Ability to develop cost-utility analyses and budget impact models in Microsoft Excel
- Working knowledge (or above) of Microsoft VBA
- Analytical clinical skills and conceptual understanding of evidence synthesis and outcomes research methodologies
- Demonstrable record of collaborative/team working and personal delivery to agreed timelines
- Ability to prioritize effectively, based on business need
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong written skills
- Experience of training non-Health Economists in the effective delivery of HE outputs
- Demonstrable project management skills
Desirable Skills/Experience
- First degree in economics, life sciences, mathematics, or similar
- Experience managing external suppliers
- Experience up-skilling junior HE staff
- Other industry/healthcare experience beyond Health Economics (e.g., NHS)
