Regional Travel Programme Manager
Based in our Lisbon Hub, we are seeking a Regional Travel Programme Manager (RTPM) to take the lead in driving AstraZeneca’s travel programme across the EMEA region. This role is one of three regional leads (Americas, EMEA, and Asia Pacific) and serves as the “internal face of travel” for AstraZeneca. From the Lisbon office, you will shape and influence AstraZeneca’s business travel programme through data analysis, strategic insights, and close collaboration with stakeholders at multiple levels of the organisation.
Accountabilities:
As the RTPM, you will work closely with the Director of Business Travel to develop long-term strategic plans and roadmaps for travel at both regional and market levels. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Business Analysis & Strategic Planning:
Leverage data insights to drive decision-making, identify trends, and shape AstraZeneca’s regional travel strategy and focus on sustainability; Monitoring performance against financial budgets and emission targets; Translate operational travel data into actionable business recommendations that align with organisational objectives; Develop and present business reviews and reporting dashboards to regional and market leads, ensuring alignment with local business goals.
- Programme Management & Policy Oversight:
Collaborate with local Procurement Managers, Data Analyst teams, and key suppliers to deliver measurable value to AstraZeneca; Lead the continuous improvement of travel policies by analysing usage patterns and finding opportunities for optimisation, cost-efficiency, and sustainable travel; Collaborate with the Global Meetings & Events (GME) team to support the implementation of Travel for Meetings programme, across EMEA markets.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Change Leadership:
Act as a trusted partner and advisor to business leaders, ensuring travel solutions meet both operational and strategic needs; Lead change management and communications initiatives to drive adoption of travel technology and programmes; Build strong networks across diverse stakeholder groups to contribute for the successful delivery of travel objectives.
Essential Skills/Experience:
We're looking for a professional who combines strategic vision with a meticulous approach to detail. The ideal candidate will bring:
- A degree or equivalent experience or professional qualification.
- Significant experience in corporate travel with a strong understanding of Online Booking Tools (OBT), Global Distribution Systems (GDS), and New Distribution Channels (NDC).
- Extensive programme management experience, with a proven ability to manage change and deliver results.
- Strong analytical and financial skills, with demonstrated experience in using data to drive strategic decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, with teh capability build compelling presentations and analytical models.
- Drive to act decisively by synthesising information from multiple sources and translating operational outcomes into commercial impact.
- High personal impact and gravitas, with excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to influence senior leadership teams.
- A passion for innovation, continuously challenging the status quo to improve processes and outcomes.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Experience in supplier management.
- Familiarity with Concur Travel & Expense and Workday HR systems.
