Job Title: Director of Alliance Management, Oncology R&D

Introduction to role

Are you ready to lead and manage complex alliances in the dynamic field of Oncology R&D? As the Director of Alliance Management, you will play a pivotal role in shaping AstraZeneca's strategy for alliances, driving asset transitions, and fostering collaborations that push the boundaries of cancer research. Your leadership will be crucial in steering strategic discussions and decision-making processes to ensure successful partnerships and external collaborations.

Accountabilities

  • Manage ongoing business relationships with alliance partners, including large complex priority partnerships.

  • Plan and oversee operational aspects of alliances, ensuring effectiveness, communication, coordination, and resolution of partner concerns.

  • Serve as a single point-of-contact for partners, facilitating business/contractual issue resolution.

  • Track, monitor, and communicate contract achievements and obligations to project team leaders and management.

  • Review and approve financial payments, working with Finance for processing.

  • Collaborate with Legal and internal partners to review and execute contract renewals and amendments.

  • Evaluate existing collaboration agreements to maximize their value to AstraZeneca.

  • Resolve business/contractual issues equitably and timely, maintaining the spirit of collaboration agreements.

  • Assess partnership health, performance risks, and potential value proposition according to AstraZeneca's business strategy.

  • Drive the AM strategy for AstraZeneca and develop alliance management capabilities across the organization.

  • Engage BD and R&D stakeholders to operationalize new deals and establish effective governance structures.

  • Lead asset transitions for in-bound and out-bound licensing deals with cross-functional Global Project Teams.

  • Set measurable performance objectives for collaborations, ensuring alignment between collaborators.

  • Develop strong working relationships with key parties involved in each project.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in life sciences

  • 10+ years' relevant pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience with at least 5 or more years' work experience in legal, finance, contract development & administration, business development, licensing, strategic planning, research, development, commercial, or manufacturing; multi-disciplinary experience is a plus.

  • Deep knowledge of the drug development process relevant to pharmaceutical/biotech organizations.

  • Ability to translate complex contract terms into strategic and operational elements for both internal and external parties.

  • Experience in developing transition plans for licensing deals and leading efficient transitions of R&D assets/programs.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage issues, risks, and conflicts internally and externally.

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding professional/work-related objectives.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the capacity to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authority.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, including internationally if required.

Desired:

  • MBA or other graduate-level degree is a plus

  • CA-AM, CSAP certification

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $180,875.20 - $271,312.80 USD. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
