The Opportunity

Reporting to the Franchise Lead –Rare Bone, Endocrine Disorders, and Rare Tumours, the Regional Account Manager (RAM) is responsible for ensuring that territory HCPs are aware of and understand the detrimental consequences of HPP, a rare metabolic disorder, in this patient population.

Due to the severity of these diseases, it is crucial that patients have access to accurate diagnosis and treatment.  To ensure best patient outcomes, you are responsible for creating and maintaining customer relationships, for creating referral and diagnostic pathways, and for developing and executing key account/customer plans through Key Account Management (KAM) and effective coordination with your medical partners.

In addition, close collaboration with internal cross functional partners, and an in-depth understanding of customer needs and priorities is essential for the successful development and execution of KAM plans aimed at surpassing key business metrics.

As a Regional Account Manager, you will:

  • Develop and maintain strong in-depth disease, diagnostic and product knowledge leading to effective education of, and a call to action for customers.
  • Develop insights-based KAM plans for all top accounts/treatment centers.   Account plans include key decision maker prioritization and in-depth situational analysis i.e. SWOT, barriers and drivers, patient journey, budgeting.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive KAM plans for best patient outcomes.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to all key partners.
  • Appropriately apply all marketing tools and execute promotional activities and programs, including regional congress opportunities.
  • Self-dependent planning, organization, and execution of local and multiple digital activities for optimal customer experience and engagement.
  • Consistently achieve or exceed sales objectives in assigned territory.

Administration

  • Build, present, and maintain strategically targeted KAM plans that reflect an in-depth understanding of local market forces impacting product sales.
  • Track activities and submit reports on sales activities accurately & on time.
  • Consistently complete assigned training in a timely manner.
  • Efficiently handle time, CRM tool, resources, and workload.
  • Ensure that all compliance requirements are met on a consistent basis.

Collaboration

  • Lead development and implementation of customer-focused and patient-centered tactics and activities within the territory in cross-functional partnership with internal stakeholders and teams, such as Marketing, Medical, Market Access, Patient Advocacy, to address challenges in the market to help more patients.
  • Proactively interact with the internal cross-functional team to improve resources for their territory.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Diagnostics, Access and Medical to find opportunities and develop action plans.
  • RAM will align with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Alexion activities in general and this role.
  • Other responsibilities that are requested from time to time.

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BSc is preferable) with a minimum of 10+ years field-based sales experience, including at least 2 years in specialty-care sales
  • Detailed track record for consistently delivering exceptional sales results.
  • Proven ability to gain consistent access & develop strong, professional relationships for scientific exchange and promotion with healthcare providers in community and academic centers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and in an interdependent, team-oriented environment on a consistent basis.
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
  • Influential presentation style with demonstrated ability to uncover and address customer needs and effectively manage customer concerns and questions.
  • Self-motivated with a sense of urgency, well-organized, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to establish rapport and build relationships with a diverse customer base.
  • Strong business, analytical and clinical acumen.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel across Western Canada on a regular basis, and occasionally to Ontario; Travel will include overnight and occasional weekend travel.

Annual base salary for this position ranges from 126,162.40 to 165,588.15.

AstraZeneca is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation opportunities to all colleagues. Our compensation policies and practices have been designed to allow colleagues to progress through the salary range over time as they progress in their role. The range provided in this posting represents an offer pay range used in a majority of situations. The base pay offered will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, and other specific business and organizational needs.  In some cases, offers outside the range may also be considered to address unique circumstances.

In addition, our permanent positions offer an annual Variable Pay Bonus/Short Term Incentive opportunity as well as eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (if applicable to role).  Benefits offered for permanent roles include a competitive Flex Benefits & Retirement Savings Program, 4 weeks’ paid vacation, and annual Personal Days. Fixed Term Contract/Temporary positions (excluding students) are offered a Contract Benefits Program.
