Senior Specialist, Safety Health & Environment
Introduction to role:

As a Senior Specialist in Safety Health & Environment, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our operations at the College Park manufacturing facility. Reporting to the SHE and Security Lead, you'll be at the forefront of promoting safe practices and compliance with regulations, all while fostering a culture of safety and innovation.
Accountabilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor environmental, health & safety programs to ensure compliance with government regulations and company standards.
- Collaborate with manufacturing staff and the wider SHE Team to promote safe manufacturing practices and proper use of containment equipment.
- Identify and address site SHE issues and employee concerns.
- Perform incident management activities, including injury management investigations and recordkeeping.
- Identify, implement, and track corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate and conduct internal & external SHE auditing and inspection.
- Carry out risk assessments such as area, process, machine safety, chemical, ergonomic, ATEX, work at height, confined space, and propose mitigation actions.
- Handle governance of life safety fire and property risk management programs.
- Develop, implement, and maintain training programs for health, safety, and the environment.
- Responsible for developing appropriate emergency plans and response capabilities.
- Stay abreast of new EHS government regulations and industry best practices.
- Build relationships with key departments to foster support for SHE programs.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- A minimum of 7+ years' professional experience required in Safety, Health and environmental programs.
- A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in cGMP environment is critical.
- Knowledge and understanding of Safety, Health & Environment compliance reporting.
- Specific experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and operational control of cGMP activity is crucial.
- Ability to make effective oral presentations and work as part of a team.
- Proficiency in organizing, communication, problem solving, multitasking and collaborating with others.
- The individual in this position will be able to organize his/her own work on a routine basis and requires minimal supervision. The individual must be able to provide updates and tracking on tasks.
- Good communication skills required, both verbal and written in the English Language.
- You must have the physically and mental capacity to undertake an active role in a busy Manufacturing facility.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Manual Handling Instructor, Train the Trainer, and Occupational First Aid certifications are desirable.
- Strong communication skills to engage with all levels of the organisation.
- A proactive attitude and the ability to take immediate ownership of safety initiatives.
- Project management, LEAN or other organisational qualifications highly desired.
