Senior Manager, Supply Chain International Distribution

The Global Logistics function within Supply Chain is responsible for leading and executing end-to-end logistics processes for the shipment of products from our manufacturing sites (internal and external) and distribution centers to the final delivery location. The Alexion Global Logistics department is a dynamic and growing department and is now recruiting for a Senior Manager, International Distribution. In this role, you will maintain and develop clear operating procedures to ensure business scalability and agility to continuously meet the needs of patients. You will work closely with internal and external collaborators to lead this function. The successful candidate will seek to continuously improve performance and execution within our Global Logistics network, ensuring that the distribution network operates in accordance with the highest standards of compliance, ethics, and integrity.

Accountabilities

- Lead & handle the distribution team & activity within Alexion across EU, International, and Shared Markets against the GDP guidelines whilst ensuring uninterrupted product supply to customers
- Develop and lead the business relationship, engagement models, and key performance indicators (KPIs) measures with global logistics partners (Distribution Centers and Transport Providers) through our Strategic Logistics Partner process
- Drive the execution of the strategic roadmap for Global Logistics aligned with GSC&S which ensures that there is a proactive approach in place to develop optimal & compliant solutions for patients
- Optimize the structure and operations of the Distribution network to improve efficiency, agility, resilience, and sustainability
- Accountable for launch readiness with Global Logistics Providers to ensure adherence to the Alexion launch plan
- Develop, continuously improve, and implement standardized GL processes and procedures addressing compliance with operating procedures, laws, and regulations applicable to Alexion Distribution activities and driving the use of digital tools across the team
- Support RFQs, review, and selection process for Logistics partners, setting the appropriate operating procedures and key performance targets in partnership with Network Strategy
- Proactively identify changes in internal and external business conditions which will impact upon the external contract supplier model and quickly ensure that required changes are put in place
- Build strategic relationships with senior and executive leadership within our logistics partners and act as a key point of contact and escalation for both internal teams to resolve issues referred by internal or external collaborators
- Prepare International Distribution budget activities, including short and long term, and ensure adherence to the budget
- Subject matter expertise for any Distribution related inspections/audits
- Participate in the implementation of risk management strategies for the company’s Global Supply Chain and work to eliminate inefficiencies and associated costs related to the operation and management of Alexion’s distribution network

Essential Skills/Experience

- Demonstrated people management experience with an expert solid understanding of Logistics & Distribution
- Excellent knowledge of GxP & regulatory issues as they relate to pharmaceutical supply chain
- Meticulous with the ability to effectively lead and handle multiple challenging priorities
- Experience working with multiple teams to support business needs
- Ability to assist with projects involving multiple teams and across different regions
- Strong leadership, presentation, and communication skills with confirmed ability to influence at executive level
- Computer literate, with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Fluency in English both written and oral is critical; fluency in other languages is desirable
- The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. As is typical of an office-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours

Desirable Skills/Experience

- 5 years’ working in Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Logistics or Operations role within an international environment
- Past experience in leading third party performance including the effective leadership of expectations and communications across a broad stakeholder base
- Excellent written and verbal skills and strong interpersonal skills
- Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain/Logistics, or related field preferable
