Associate Director, Global Sourcing -External Manufacturing Product Development & Clinical Supply
This is what you will do:
The Associate Director, Global Sourcing - External Manufacturing, Product Development & Clinical Supply is responsible for leading the sourcing strategy, supplier management, and commercial execution across external manufacturing categories that support Alexion’s development and clinical supply network, with a primary focus on the early-stage clinical network (Phase I to Phase II).
This includes strategic responsibility across Biologic Drug Substance Development, Drug Product Development, and Clinical Supply & Manufacturing, Packaging, Labelling, and Distribution.
The role is accountable for developing and executing sourcing approaches that ensure secure, compliant, cost-effective, flexible, and scalable external supply solutions aligned with portfolio, development, and operational priorities.
Working in close partnership with stakeholders across Product Development & Clinical Supply (PDCS), Research & Development (R&D), Technical Operations, Quality, Finance, and other key business functions, the role enables effective supplier selection, contracting, and partner management to support rapid asset onboarding and the evolving needs of Alexion’s pipeline.
You will need to have:
Business Partnership & Category Leadership
Act as a strategic business partner to stakeholders across PDCS, R&D, Technical Operations, Quality, CMC Program Management, and Finance to understand business needs and translate them into sourcing strategies and execution plans.
Lead the development and implementation of category and sourcing strategies for External Manufacturing, ensuring alignment with business priorities, portfolio requirements, and broader supply network considerations.
Provide commercial and market intelligence, including supplier landscape assessments, capacity trends, cost drivers, and benchmarking insights, to support decision-making and long-range planning.
Support make-versus-buy evaluations, supplier network optimisation, and capacity planning activities to enhance supply resilience and operational flexibility.
