Introduction to Role

As a Key Account Manager at AstraZeneca, you will be responsible for managing individual accounts with strategic importance to AstraZeneca, taking ultimate accountability for their performance. You will generate clinical demand for Rare Disease therapies within key accounts, identify and act on business opportunities, present value propositions aligned to stakeholder needs and objectives, and recommend solutions to develop and advance partnerships. Your overarching goal will be to establish strategic and mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholders, based on a deep scientific understanding of Rare Diseases. You will work to identify and deliver opportunities that enable AstraZeneca’s Rare Disease portfolio to bring life-changing treatments to patients in need.

Accountabilities

• Identify and prioritize strategically important accounts to AstraZeneca in the Rare Diseases space.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze stakeholder needs and uncover opportunities to improve the positioning of AstraZeneca’s Rare Disease products on a national and regional level.

• Develop tailored strategies to meet targets, ensuring alignment with the brand strategy and regulatory framework.

• Support the development and execution of promotional activities for defined brands within each account, aligned with the overall Rare Diseases strategy.

• Build and maintain long-term external relationships with senior stakeholders at high-value accounts.

• Share insights and learnings from stakeholders with internal teams to enhance product development, marketing, and sales efforts.

• Engage key stakeholders to collaboratively develop and implement account-specific strategies.

• Engage healthcare professionals (HCPs) specializing in Rare Diseases in discussions about approved indications, product efficacy/safety profiles, and treatment protocols to support appropriate prescribing.

• Provide educational and informational support to various healthcare players to enhance understanding of Rare Diseases and therapies.

• Utilize diverse communication channels and approaches to engage stakeholders effectively.

• Position AstraZeneca as a trusted partner and value generator for key accounts by leveraging data flows and outcomes research.

• Act as a resource for internal colleagues by documenting and sharing insights from the Rare Diseases ecosystem.

• Ensure effective implementation of business plans, drive sales performance, and manage operational budgets for assigned accounts.

• Develop and execute detailed Key Account Management (KAM) plans, coordinating actions internally and externally to achieve strategic goals.

• Adhere to all regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Essential Skills/Experience

• University degree, preferably in Medicine, Pharmacy Dentistry.

• Proven experience as a Senior Medical Sales Representative or Key Account Manager with a proven track record of managing key accounts successfully.

• Demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders in complex healthcare environments.

• Strategic thinking, strong judgment, and exceptional negotiation skills.

• Leadership capabilities to set direction, inspire commitment, balance priorities, and resolve challenges constructively.

• Outstanding communication and presentation skills.

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.

• Results-oriented with a focus on effective decision-making and performance.

• Proficiency in English.

• Proficiency in MS Office.

• Valid driving license.

Desirable Skills/Experience

• Knowledge and experience in the Rare Diseases therapy area.

• Strong understanding of the Rare Diseases market and its key stakeholders.
