Epidemiology Intern

This is what you will do:

The Epidemiology intern within the Epidemiology and Real World Science (RWS) department will be an integrated member of the Epi & RWS teamand contribute to the execution of Epi & RWS tactical strategy for clinical and commercial development and lifecycle management. The intern has a foundation in epidemiological study design and hands on experience with data analysis and the assessment of epidemiological literature. 

The intern may be expected to ascertain, assess, and summarize relevant epidemiological literature to characterize the epidemiology of an indication and/or safety-related event, perform alandscape assessment of academic and registry-based real world data sources for new indications, author an epidemiological analysis concept and plan, and/or present epidemiological data to external team members. The intern may also work with the RWS team to appraise how existing data sources may be used for current and future epidemiological studies.

The intern will interface largely with lead Epidemiologists and team members dedicated to operational excellence. Asappropriate, the intern will accompany the program leadEpidemiologists in cross-functional meetings, where epidemiological strategy/data is discussed. It is expected that the intern will participate in company-sponsored intern development activities. 

A passion for learning, a desire to gain broad exposure to the department’s contribution across the product lifecycle, flexibility, and an ability to plan and navigate multiple projects simultaneously will make for a successful internship experience.  

You will be responsible for:

• Authoring a descriptive epidemiological analysis concept and/or plan

• Critical review of epidemiological literature for selected topic(s) related to development programs within R&D portfolio.

• Presenting best practices, lessons learned, and project updates to team members

• Establishing and actively participating in regular meetings with intern manager and Epi&RWS team members 

You will need to have:

• Post-baccaleuraeute education in Epidemiologyor relevant quantitative field in public health

• Possibility to sign an internship agreement with your University

• Experience and/or Knowledge on conducting literature searches in databases such as PubMed or EMBASE and reviewing epidemiological literature

• Familiarity with the development and/or execution of primary or secondary epidmiological studies

• Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills
