Medical Science Liaison – CVRM
At AstraZeneca, we put patients first and strive to meet their unmet needs worldwide. Working here means being entrepreneurial, thinking big and working together to make the impossible a reality. If you are swift to action, confident to lead, willing to collaborate, and curious about what science can do, then you’re our kind of person.
Be part of changing the practice of medicine forever. A place to be at the forefront; proactive, innovative, and brave, we don’t stop.
It means we dare to do big studies in the real world, utilizing primary and secondary data, leading the field in evidence generation and external scientific engagement.
We have an opportunity to see how the compelling medical evidence we generated and communicated influences the basis of future healthcare.
What you’ll do
Develop a strong local KEE (Key External Expert) network: Collaborate with Medical Advisors, Medical Lead, and cross-functional teams to create a market/local KEE engagement plan. Identify and segment KEEs based on their scientific interests and affiliations, and build a robust KEE network pre- and post-launch.
Engage with KEEs using scientific expertise: Utilize deep scientific knowledge of AstraZeneca's marketed products and compounds in development to engage with KEEs. Foster discussions and share scientific insights relevant to their areas of interest.
Support clinical trials and investigator engagement: Identify potential investigators for pre-clinical, clinical, and post-marketing studies. Engage in discussions on the Externally Sponsored Research (ESR) Program with potential investigators. Seek opportunities to provide and gather Real-World Evidence (RWE) data. Support patient recruitment in AZ sponsored studies and ESR.
Engage in scientific exchange: Interact with the medical/scientific community in a highly credible and objective manner, representing AZ's dedication to scientific excellence. Deliver high-level medical science presentations at congresses, symposia, scientific meetings, and group meetings with KEEs. Provide support for content development, advisory boards, and scientific publications.
Build capability of stakeholders: Act as a subject matter expert for external clinical/scientific stakeholders. Educate stakeholders about potential solutions to their needs, such as extended access programs and diagnostic testing approaches. Respond to unsolicited stakeholder inquiries and provide balanced and objective clinical/scientific information. Support internal stakeholders with medical science information and share relevant knowledge and insights.
Ensure compliance: Successfully complete all training requirements, including product examinations and certifications. Comply with external regulations and internal policies, including AZ's Global MSL Guide, Code of Conduct, External Interactions Policy/Standards, Publications Policy, and relevant local industry Codes of Conduct.
Essential for the role
Master's Degree (second cycle degree) in pharmacy, medicine, or veterinary medicine.
Desirable 2 years of experience in a healthcare-related field.
Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Fluent in local language and English.
Valid driving license.
We are looking for individuals with the following functional capabilities:
Therapeutic Area expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of scientific, clinical, and therapeutic aspects related to CVRM. Stay updated on disease state management, emerging therapies, and clinical data flow.
Patient centricity: Deep understanding of patient demographics and needs. Engage stakeholders around the patient journey, leveraging scientific and clinical knowledge.
Customer value proposition: Solid understanding of AZ's value proposition for each external stakeholder, focusing on clinical and/or Real-World Evidence (RWE) to demonstrate product benefit or safety.
Engaging with the TA ecosystem: Build science-led advocacy in the medical community. Confidently engage with clinicians/KEEs in scientific and clinical conversations, including discussions on new clinical data, treatment options, and off-label use.
Cross-functional engagement: Understand the role within the broader cross-functional team. Collaborate with field and office-based colleagues to align insights and leverage organizational expertise.
