The Field Content Strategy and Omnichannel Lead (FCSO)  will report directly to the Head of US Medical Excellence and will be a key member of a focused strategic team driving medical excellence across the whole of USOMA.  Accountable for the strategic direction and implementation of business-critical capability development plans across the medical therapeutical franchises, head office, and field roles. You will lead on the medical content strategy and needs to translate science to clinical practice, including launch content & new indication content across all franchises.   You will also play a key role in new hire onboarding and assimilation of new talent for the USOMA.  This role can support field remote or WFH if outside of 50-mile radius of Gaithersburg, MD. Local candidates are on-site in Gaithersburg, MD.

Responsible for leading strategies and initiatives on content creation, modification, and implementation, this role, will work cross-matrix to ensure that all content needs for the USOMA are in alignment with requirements from the medical franchises, are based on assets from the Global Medical Affairs organization, and meet the compliance and ethics requirements of the US market and AstraZeneca.


  • Define, build and maintain a content strategy that will ensure robust compliant content management and a process of continuous improvement ensuring the most current information is available for the USOMA organization and key stakeholders
  • Accountable for defining and executing the capability development and training strategy for the US Medical Affairs organization
  • Lead on the identification, articulation, and alignment of capability, content, and training needs of the US Medical Affairs organization, both current needs and the needs for the future to enable the USOMA business strategy
  • Work with Franchise Heads and their teams to identify key gaps in current content, capability, and training needs
  • Lead, conduct and report on audits of content assets to determine performance of existing assets
  • Review and evaluate existing training content for continued use
  • Work cross-functionally across departments to create assets to fulfill identified training gaps
  • Liaise with global teams and strategize with Franchise Heads and Medical Leads to execute on content and communication plans for new indications and launches
  • Develop a new hire learning pathways for field and HQ USOMA positions
  • Research, curate and procure outside expertise to supplement internal training and content resources
  • Accountable for developing a high-performing team culture of performance development, accountability inclusion, and diversity.
  • Responsible for ensuring adherence to all AZ internal and external compliance regulations - maintain a good working knowledge of company standards on medicines promotion and supports the Nominated Signatories in ensuring product-related materials and activities for external audiences comply with these standards


  • Master’s degree in a scientific discipline (Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Nursing, etc.)
  • 2+ years Oncology therapeutic area experience (academic research, clinical or pharma/biotech setting),
  • Experience in scientific writing and content development
  • Effective matrix leadership experience
  • Experience leading or working in a customer-facing medical role
  • Collaborative/matrix management skills with a focus on leading diverse groups (e.g., cultural, geographical, functional) to achieve excellent results in shared goals


  • PharmD or PhD in life sciences
  • Experience of US Medical Affairs function within pharmaceutical industry
  • Working knowledge of US FDA requirements
  • Experience working in the US pharmaceutical market
