Postdoctoral Long Title:
Mechanistic and pharmacological study for an epigenetic protein that functions as a resistance mechanism for cancer drug
We’re currently looking for talented scientists to join our innovative academic-style Postdoc. From our centre in Gatehouse Park, Waltham, MA, USA, you’ll be in a global pharmaceutical environment, contributing to live projects right from the start. You’ll take part in a comprehensive training programme, including a focus on drug discovery and development, given access to our existing Postdoctoral research, and encouraged to pursue your own independent research in cutting edge laboratories. It’s a newly expanding programme spanning a range of therapeutic areas across a wide range of disciplines.

Cancer is one of the greatest challenges facing medical science today. In our Oncology Team, you’ll push the boundaries of science every day to overcome that challenge. We’ve been at the centre of some of the biggest breakthroughs in oncology. In lung cancer, for example, we‘ve brought together complementary expertise to aid discovery and accelerate development in new medicines through a variety of partnerships and initiatives. We’re also early adopters of new technologies to support innovation, including CRISPR, genome editing techniques and a next-generation sequencing platform for companion diagnostics in oncology. But we’re not stopping there. With a world-class pipeline and some of the best experts in the industry, we’re in a great position to develop even more innovative therapeutic approaches.
In this postdoc position, you will be associated with a project aligned with our scientific platform of Tumour Driver and Resistance, aiming to elucidate the molecular mechanism of an epigenetic protein that functions as a resistance mechanism for cancer and define the combination strategy to overcome the drug resistance.
Education and Experience Required:
- PhD in oncology, cell biology, or related field
- Strong desire to learn and perform cancer research in an industry setting
- Expertise in epigenetic oncology and/or DNA damage response
- Strong scientific background in mechanisms of disease and drug resistance.
- Highly motivated, innovative and reliable with the ability to effectively problem solve
- Flexible, collaborative and team-oriented mind set
- Strong publication track record
- Relevant bioinformatic experience
Skills and Capabilities required:
- Experience with a variety of laboratory, molecular, and cellular biology techniques
- Experience with key epigenetic techniques including ChIP-seq and/or assays for investigating DNA damage response signalling.
This is a 3 year programme. 2 years will be a Fixed Term Contract, with a 1 year extension which will be merit based. The role will be based at Waltham, MA with a competitive salary on offer
