Location: Warsaw
Hybrid Model: 3 days per week from office
Global Clinical Solutions (GCS) drives the delivery of services and technology for AstraZeneca for its internal and external stakeholders. The Associate Director, GCS is responsible for the leadership, lifecycle management and continuous improvement of a specific Clinical process, system, or service. Working collaboratively with internal and external customers and stakeholders to ensure needs are met and to enable optimal end-to-end delivery of clinical studies. Individuals in this job are assigned one or more roles relating to systems and services owned by GCS. These roles include (but may not be limited to) Solution Implementation Lead, Team Leader, Project Manager, Business Process/Procedure Owner and Business Improvement Manager. All Associate Directors lead and manage projects, processes and/or people as needed and contribute to study level, functional and regional initiatives. Individuals must have a working knowledge of all services in GCS and some knowledge of the system interdependencies and the remit/goals of GCS. The Associate Director must be able to use relevant planning tools to align activities to relevant objectives. In addition, they must be able to balance the total lifecycle value, costs, risks, and quality to contribute effectively to risk management evaluation within their own area. The Associate Director is accountable for the effective and timely communication of information, and for the provision of high-quality training as appropriate for new people on operational processes, systems, and central services in GCS. They lead and drive continuous improvement and innovation via industry-leading projects in line with the Development Operations business objectives.
Accountabilities:
- Accountable for project and/ or line management for a given area in GCS Responsible for the design, development, implementation, maintenance, continuous improvement and ongoing customer support for the allocated area
- Ensures effective and timely stakeholder communication of information
- Provides training, advice, and end user support as required for the allocated system or service
- Builds and leads services and/or teams
- Effectively applies AstraZeneca methodology and enforces project standards to ensure delivery of documentation meeting regulatory and GCP (Good Clinical Practice) requirements
- Ensures customer requirements are understood, critically evaluated, prioritised, and addressed within the allocated area
- Works with GCS Leadership and key stakeholders to prioritise the needs and resources required to deliver GCS services.
- Effectively plans and tracks capacity and demand for service and/or team and may act as product owner
- Member of Executive Steering Committees and Governance Teams relating to the allocated area
- Defines, tracks and monitors key performance indicators and use these data to inform selection of process improvements and input to cross- functional improvements, working in collaboration with GCS Leadership
- Tracking and overseeing risk and quality management systems associated with the service and/or team escalate risks and issues to leadership and functional groups as required
- Supports audit and regulatory inspection planning, preparation, and conduct. Responsible for the delivery of Corrective and Preventive Actions to time and quality and for acting on data or trends identified through the Quality & Risk Management process
- Monitor market trends and provide strategic advice to the Leadership Team and/or Governance Team to build long term business success in the allocated area
- Develops and retains top talent, contributing to individual and team development
- Manages performance of teams (direct or indirect management with appropriate understanding of reward and recognition activities
- Ensures individuals are equipped with the right skills, real-time mentoring, and coaching
Education, qualifications, skills, and experience
Essential
- 3 years pharmaceutical or other relevant industry experience
- Bachelor’s of Science in an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience Demonstrated project management expertise to deliver to time, costs and quality
- Capabilities to manage through change
- Ability to work collaboratively, motivate and empower others to accomplish individual, team and organizational objectives
- Experience of working with third party suppliers
- Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English
- Strong business communication, stakeholder management and presentation skills
- Strong influencing, negotiation and conflict management skills Well-developed organisational and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve and knowledge transfer (mentor)
Desirable
- Extensive experience of Quality Systems and Quality Management, including process definition and process improvement, ideally within an Information Systems environment
- Extensive experience in Drug Development within a pharmaceutical company
- Comprehensive knowledge of ICH/GCP
- Experience of working in a global organisation with complex/geographical context
- Experience of Line management and in driving performance
- Ability to set and manage priorities, resources, performance targets and project initiatives in a regional environment
- Experience of managing ambiguity whilst navigating through it
