Associate Director, Data Products

Hybrid model of work: 3 days in office, 2 remote per week

As an Associate Director, Data Products for the Operational Data domain, you will play a pivotal role at the intersection of business and technology within a cross-functional, data-driven organization.

Reporting directly to the Data Product Owner, you will bridge technical and business requirements, shaping the clinical data landscape to enable reliable insights for forecasting, planning, and strategic decision-making.

This is a unique opportunity to influence high-impact deliverables for both R&D and Supply Chain leadership, while collaborating with teams in Big Data, advanced analytics, and healthcare technology. Your work will ensure that End-to-End Clinical Planning is supported by high-quality, consistent, and well-integrated data products, enabling operational excellence across the drug development lifecycle.

Typical Accountabilities

  • Analyse and translate business requirements from Clinical Planning, R&D, and Supply Chain into actionable data needs, ensuring clarity on objectives, priorities, and constraints.

  • Evaluate compatibility of new requests with the existing reporting and analytics landscape, recommending strategic and scalable enhancements.

  • Ensure alignment and consistency in definitions, KPIs, and reporting methodologies across business functions.

  • Map, document, and validate complex data flows from multiple internal source systems, ensuring transparency in data lineage and transformation processes.

  • Evaluate and improve data quality, identifying embedded business rules and ensuring they meet operational and compliance needs.

  • Partner with Data Governance to establish and maintain data dictionaries, business glossaries, and metadata repositories.

  • Partner with the Programme Transformation Team, Power BI developers, and ML/AI engineers to deliver robust, user-friendly, and analytically powerful data products.

  • Support the development, testing, and deployment of analytical tools, algorithms, and dashboards by specifying datasets, KPIs, and validation benchmarks.

  • Drive cross-functional workshops to align business, technical, and governance priorities.

  • Ensure all data products and processes comply with internal governance, regulatory, security, and quality standards.

  • Proactively identify data gaps, recommend improvements, and enhance source system integrations and data pipelines.

  • Facilitate collaboration across business and technical functions to support change management and ensure smooth business adoption of new data products.

  • Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making across Clinical Operations, R&D, and Supply Chain.

Essential

  • University degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Biotechnology, Statistics, or a related field

  • Experience in mapping business requirements to technical solutions and documentation

  • Proven experience in business/data analysis roles within pharmaceutical, health sciences, or life sciences environments.  

  • Strong technical acumen, with an understanding of data engineering principles, ETL processes, and data modelling concepts.

  • Proficiency in gathering and documenting technical requirements, data mapping,user stories, and process flows.

  • Strong analytical skills, business acumen, and the ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholder groups.  

  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written).

Desirable

  • Familiarity with enterprise data platforms (Starburst, Snowflake).

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI, or similar.

  • Jira and Confluence knowledge.

  • Basic knowledge of SQL, data querying, and data manipulation.

  • Understanding of operational data management principles and methodologies.

  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality management, and regulatory requirements for healthcare data.
