The Clinical Pharmacology and Quantitative Pharmacology (CPQP) group at AstraZeneca, South San Francisco, CA is seeking a Scientist/Senior Scientist to work in the bioanalytical group primarily focused on Molecular Biology. Scientist will have an opportunity to work on Chimeric Antigen Receptor T cells (CAR-T) and other nucleotide-based drug modalities. Scientist will be responsible for bioanalytical methods development, optimization, transfer, and qualification with an emphasis on molecular biology methods.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
• Able to work independently in designing, developing, and executing new test methods.
• Conduct laboratory experiments in a GLP or non-GLP setting and document the observations and data accurately. 
• Support qualification, validation, comparability, and transfer of test methods to CRO.
• Author and review method development reports, SOPs, protocols, reports (all documents pertaining to analytical methods).
• Demonstrated ability to rigorously analyze, interpret data and present to the manager
• Scientist is also expected to present the data in group meetings within AstraZeneca.
• Scientist is expected to have the ability to trouble shoot the experiments.

• Experience in Assay development to support pre-clinical and clinical trials

• Position title depending on skill and experience level:

Senior Scientist- Need to have PHD with at least 2-3 years of hands-on laboratory based industry experience.

Scientist- MSc with 2 years experience or PHD

• Strong knowledge of molecular biology techniques such as qPCR, ddPCR, RT-PCR, DNA and RNA isolation from cells and tissues.
• Hands-on experience in aseptic and  cell culture techniques
• Ability to support multiple projects concurrently
• Knowledge and understanding of lab safety, experience with reagent preparation and laboratory instrumentation, as well as Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
• Strong organizational skills, documentation skills and the ability to multi-task.
• Vendor management experience is desired.
