Cell Therapy Bioanalytical & Biomarker Principal Scientist
The Integrated BioAnalysis (iBA) group within the Clinical Pharmacology and Quantitative Pharmacology department at AstraZeneca seeks an experienced Associate Principal Scientist or Principal Scientist (level commensurate with experience) to develop bioanalytical and biomarker strategies for new modality therapeutic product programs (e.g. cellular therapies). The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experiences in development of safety and pharmacodynamic biomarkers of various therapeutic products.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Devise and implement bioanalytical strategies for new modality programs (e.g. cell therapies) at both pre-clinical and clinical development stages
Serve as an expert in safety biomarkers for multiple new modality therapeutic programs
Direct 2-4 scientists (both PhD- and non-PhD levels) in developing, validating and implementing novel bioanalytical assays
Contribute to engagement efforts with Commercial Research Organizations (CRO) in assay transfer, validation and implementation of bioanalytical & biomarker assays
Educational Requirements and Qualifications
PhD in relevant field (immunology, biochemistry, biology) and post-doctoral experience in related area
4-7 years of experience in bioanalytical/biomarker activities in biopharmaceutical setting
Experience in identifying &/or developing biomarker assays to monitor safety of therapeutic products
Extensive experience in PCR, q(RT)PCR and ddPCR assay development and troubleshooting
Experience with flow cytometry is preferred
Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations
Understanding of drug development process
Scientific management experience is preferred
Skills and Abilities
Ability to manage multiple complex programs and delivery timelines concurrently
Ability to work independently in a highly-matrixed organization to deliver on goals
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
