Be part of history in the making. AstraZeneca is building its first biologics manufacturing campus in Singapore — a groundbreaking USD 1.5 billion investment that will serve as a global hub for innovation and excellence.

This state-of-the-art facility will deliver end-to-end Antibody-Drug Conjugate (ADC) capabilities with different manufacturing units/buildings in one campus Small molecule- chemical API production

  • Large molecule- monoclonal antibody manufacturing

  • Conjugation

  • Fill-and-finish operations, including sterile filling and lyophilization

  • Final secondary packaging

The campus will be equipped with modern digital and automation infrastructure, enabling autonomous manufacturing powered by artificial intelligence. In addition, it will be designed for carbon neutrality, embedding sustainability into every aspect of operations and setting a new benchmark for environmentally responsible biologics manufacturing.

As an Associate Director, you'll be at the helm of technical, operational, and project management delivery across a diverse portfolio of programs and projects. Whether leading a team of professional engineers or coordinating specialist engineering projects, your expertise will support activities and maintain equipment in your area of expertise. Accountabilities

What you'll do:

  • Drive the development and implementation of operational goals to achieve strategic objectives in asset life cycle management for all campus equipment and engineering infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Global/Site Engineering in project execution, ensuring adherence to timelines, cost and operational readiness that aligns with AstraZeneca’s policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Act as lead engineer for a significant functional Engineering area or handle a group of project engineers accountable for delivering their own portfolio of programs and projects from inception to completion.
  • Provide core technical leadership in daily operations, offering support and consultation to collaborators.
  • Handle expectations of business collaborators relevant to your area of control, ensuring optimized demand vs. supply management and tangible, value creating outcomes
  • Coordinate assets within the team and across the department, facilitating efficiency by removing roadblocks.
  • Actively control supplier performance, ensuring reliable, compliant, and cost-efficient operation.
  • Create best in class asset management programs delivering lowest operating cost of assets and reliability by using innovative diagnostics of predictability
  • Own and implement KPIs across efficiency, quality, safety, schedule and cost.
  • Build an inclusive and collaborative culture, achieving outstanding performance within the team.
  • Cultivate technical expertise and knowledge within the project team or broader Engineering function by disseminating guidelines and sharing knowledge across functions and project teams.
  • Advocate for a Continuous Improvement mindset, enabling goals in lean/cost-efficient operations, autonomous manufacturing, environmental sustainability, and technology introduction.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineering Qualifications
  • Sound knowledge of cGMP, Safety, Health and Environment, and local regulatory requirements
  • Sound knowledge and experience working with data analytics and data management
  • Project management, change management skills
  • Technical mastery in core Engineering area, and competence in several others
  • Experience in managing teams and suppliers/contractors
  • Internal business leaders

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Extensive experience in line management, technical support, and project management
  • Facility startup and ops preparation
  • Experience in operations of pharmaceutical industry
  • Management experience of contractors and suppliers
