Scientist, Analytical Sciences - Cell Therapy
We are looking for an experienced Scientist to join Analytical Operations within Product Analytical Sciences. This position is focused on the development and optimization of the cell-based assay testingfunction to support process and product characterization of engineered cell therapy.
The Scientist will work with Analytical Sciences, Process Development, and Quality Control to deliver quality databy maintaining continuous operations of cell-based assay testing functions. You will have expertise in cell-based assays, particularly those relevantsuspension/adherent cell line, co-culture assays, and immune effector functions. This role is based in Santa Monica, CA and reports to a Senior Scientist within Analytical Sciences.
You Will:
- Lead the development of operational processes & continuous improvement of cell-basedfunction within Analytical Operations.
- Manage critical reagent inventory, assay control material, and general consumables to maintain team’s capabilitiesto execute cell-based potency assays.
- Perform cell-based assays including, but not limited to, cytotoxicity and cytokine release assays using cell imagers, cell counters, and immunoassay kits.
- Perform cell culture work: thaw, culture, expand, and cryopreserve to bank cell lines for co-culture assays.
- Coordinate & prepare engineered immune cells to support testing in various assays.
- Lead in the method transfer of cell-based assays into the Analytical Operationsteam by assessing incoming test methods, critical reagents, and training schedule.
- Collaborate with method & automation developers to optimize methods for high throughput testing and streamline documentation & analysis.
- Maintain records of executed methods and reported results for samples and assay control material.
- Monitor assay trending and collaborate with method developers to troubleshoot analytical assays.
- Expand laboratory and operational skill-set to support department needs
- Provide technical mentorship ensuring scientific rigor and operational excellence in the lab.
- Maintain laboratory instruments, ensuring calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting are performed.
You Have:
- Three (3) years with BS/BA, or two (2) years with MS/MA in immunology, Cell Biology, Oncology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline with experience in a biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, or academic setting.
- Strong expertise in cell-based assays, especially those evaluating potency or immune effector function using cell imagers or immunoassays.
- Hands-on experience with media preparations and suspension/adherent culture work: thaw, culture, expand, and cryopreserve
- Proficiency in immune cell culture, including primary T cells or engineered immune cells.
- Proficiency in data analysis and troubleshooting of cell-based assay analytical assays
- Proficientknowledge of general cell therapy processes and understanding of sampling and testing points for characterization to support process development
- Experience in flow cytometry, immunoassay, or genomic assays is a plus
- Ability to clearly convey scientific findings and development rationale.
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $87,200 to 130,800. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles).
