Global Financial Services (GFS) was formed in Q3 2018 through the merger of Global Finance Operations, Integrated Finance Solutions and Cash Generation.  GFS is at the heart of the Finance function - accountable to the AstraZeneca (AZ) Group for the design and delivery of high quality, simple to operate transactional finance processes that enable our customers to focus on AZ’s strategic priorities.  

The creation of the Global Financial Services (GFS) centers in Warsaw (Poland), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and San José (Costa Rica) will transform the AZ Middle Office and Back Office to a central function, supporting the business regions through simplification, standardization across the globe, and a structure that is scalable to support the bold ambition of becoming a $80bn company by 2030. 

We have exciting opportunities to join our GFS Center in San José, which will establish best practices and be responsible for providing support to embedded finance (CFOs and country business partners and or BPs in Manufacturing).

Role Profile

This position is responsible for supporting the Contract to Cash activities related to pricing master-data processes within the Global Finance Business Services organization. 

The role is accountable to ensure all Alexion pricing requests for Commercial and Transfer Price are completed in a timely manner, impacting positively the revenue and ensuring pricing is set up correctly for all customers and markets. Also, ensure all controls and approvals are captured within the correct systems and work closely with global stakeholders to follow up on pending items.

This individual will partner with broader Finance teams to support the Accounts Receivable operation and ensuring the global goals are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

Operational Execution & Team Support

  • Accountable for the governance and integrity of the company’s Global Pricing Master Data in SAP for Commercial and transfer pricing.   
  • Execute and/or reviews changes to SAP pricing master-data with strict adherence to process and governance standards.    
  • Drive proactive cross functional stakeholder collaboration/outcomes to ensure SAP pricing master-data configuration changes are performed timely to meet business requirements.  
  • Work closely with different business functional teams to resolve pricing data issues as needed while ensuring compliance and consistency across business systems. 
  • Support teammates in escalations or issues related to Pricing Master Data.  
  • Connect and provide training to Finance Controllers and Directors if required to ensure correct Pricing requests are submitted correctly.   
  • Support and respond to stakeholders and customers’ emails ensuring quality and responsiveness.
  • Review if pricing and discounts are set up correctly in the different markets.
  • Proactively follow up on expired/old prices and ensure these are handled properly.  
  • Ensure pricing tables are updated per Contract’s requirements
  • Approve or reject requests that are not compliant with the process.  
  • Connect with Manager to raise concerns about processes or possible roadblocks.
  • Act as a backup/support of tasks related to O2C if required, such as Collections, Billing, Cash Applications, Credit and Debits, Orders.
  • Ad hoc tasks as and when required.

Analysis & Strategic Insight

  • Ensure proper IT control and change management across the global regions within SAP and other related business systems including ServiceNow.  
  • Ensure KPIs and SLAs are achieved per business requirements. 
  • Review of monthly and quarterly reports including transfer price, price changes and other related.  
  • Actively performs pricing master-data reconciliations, data analysis and periodic maintenance of information in the SAP pricing through pricing matrix.
  • Monitor the process-specific service performance management; review metrics and manage performance against agreed targets holding the external service provider accountable for delivery to the agreed metrics. 

Compliance, Governance & Audit

  • Documentation of process design, desktop procedures, governance, templates, policies and training materials.
  • Support internal and external audit requests by providing the documentation or data requested to ensure processes are performed correctly.
  • Verify Month End activities are completed within the SLA.
  • Ensure BCP is mapped for all pricing activities to ensure business continuity.
  • Lead audit walkthroughs when documentation and comments are required with internal and external auditors.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives: 

  • Ensures data management design is consistent with the SAP architectural strategy and ensures that solutions add business value. 
  • Drive continuous improvement within the Global C2C reporting platform including the exploration of systems utilized within GFS and their potential application for use in C2C.
  • Work with the Service Delivery teams to understand the root cause of the service issues to resolve process related escalations and identify continuous improvement and transformation opportunities from a delivery / service perspective. 
  • Review internal process benchmarks and share internal best practices across AZ to understand areas for improvement. 
  • Participate in Lean activities to identify possible improvements in the process.  
  • Identify process improvement opportunities through elimination of redundant activities and support process automation initiatives.
  • Identifies new data requirements and provides expertise to business and IT functions. 

Stakeholder Management: 

  • Attend key governance meetings to provide input as required.  
  • Act as a point of contact for pricing master-data process escalations.   
  • Be heavily involved in daily / weekly huddles with business/ customer teams to be aware of the day-to-day issues and escalations and to understand major process gaps to drive process changes and improvements. 
  • Support the Global Process Owner/Global Process Leader in steering the Pricing strategy and delivering targets
  • Follow up with different stakeholders involved in the approval to ensure a timely completeness.  

Essential Criteria

  • 2-4 years of master data experience (preferably pricing master data or O2C).   
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance or related field.
  • Proven expertise and passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and ability to effectively   
  • Ability to see broadly and understand strategic changes and effectively translate that into necessary processes or technology changes needed to support the needs of the business. 
  • Intermediate Excel and SAP Reporting skills 
  • Good communication skill, verbal & written in English. 
  • Experience in multinational company  
  • Strong communication, relationship building, and interpersonal skills required. 
  • Strong organizational and stakeholder management skills.  
  • Experience in leading/support improvements covering process
  • Ability to see broadly and understand strategic changes and effectively translate that into necessary processes or technology changes needed to support the needs of the business.

Other Role Requirements

  • Schedule flexibility to work on holidays when necessary.
  • Flexibility and Ability to travel and work in another AZ facilities outside the country when necessary.
  • Schedule flexibility to work on the days off given by the wellness Policy when necessary (Política de Bienestar).

Internal and External Contacts/Customers

  • Will interface with other Shared Services functions, Business CFOs/Finance Business Partners and 3rd party service providers.
