Our Medical Science Liaisons engage in relevant, objective scientific exchange with health care professionals in an effort to facilitate scientific discovery and informed treatment decisions. This position is based in Quebec and will cover the Quebec and Atlantic region.

Accountabilities

• Review emerging data with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) discussing benefits and risks in a scientific, objective and unbiased way.
• Interact with HCPs as scientific consultants to engage in scientific activities aligned with corporate projects such as advisory boards, speaker programs, and clinical trials.
• Identify HCPs with the scientific competence and expertise to collaborate on forward-thinking basic and pre-clinical research identified in our target planning.
• Stay abreast of information and provide AstraZeneca with an understanding of regional HCPs, their practices, and related key issues and trends in disease treatment so we can continue to build strong relationships and discover new ideas for research.
• Act as a regional (field-based) subject matter expert in the lifecycle management of products in a variety of therapeutic areas.
• Uncover opportunities for research with HCPs and, where appropriate, you connect these opportunities to the Medical Advisor as part of the Externally Sponsored Research (ESR) process.
• Support key clinical trial sites by providing expert scientific expertise on the molecule being investigated either during site initiation or shortly thereafter.
• Collaborate with clinical operations groups to ensure successful recruitment of clinical sites.

Essential Skills/Experience

• You have the ability to effectively synthesize and communicate scientific information at a peer level with a physician. You are able to connect with the HCP to discuss rewarding scientific exchange.
• You have previous experience as a healthcare professional (PharmD, MD) or one with scientific expertise including PhD or MSc.
• You have two years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry as an MSL, with a deep understanding of the health care environment with regards to Opinion Leaders, Academia, and the Medical Community in general.
• Experience in the therapeutic area of Respiratory is an asset; You may at times be required to change therapeutic areas to adapt to business needs and therefore you must have an excellent ability to learn and capacity for scientific concepts and knowledge.
• You are well-organized and a self-starter with strong communication and business skills.
• You positively impact and influence others and quickly establish credibility while building strong business relationships.
• You can travel frequently (local, national, and global) and you hold a valid driver's license (a valid driver abstract requested at time of acceptance).

Responsabilités

• Examiner les données émergentes avec les professionnels de la santé (PDS) en discutant des avantages et des risques de manière scientifique, objective et impartiale.
• Interagir avec les PDS en tant que consultants scientifiques pour participer à des activités alignées sur les projets de l’entreprise telles que des comités consultatifs, des programmes de conférenciers et des essais cliniques.
• Identifier les PDS dotés de compétences et d’expertise scientifiques afin de collaborer sur des recherches fondamentales et précliniques innovantes ciblées dans notre planification.
• Se tenir informé et fournir à AstraZeneca une compréhension des PDS régionaux, de leurs pratiques et des questions clés et tendances liées au traitement des maladies, afin de renforcer nos relations et découvrir de nouvelles idées de recherche.
• Agir en tant qu’expert régional (sur le terrain) dans la gestion du cycle de vie des produits dans divers domaines thérapeutiques.
• Détecter des opportunités de recherche avec les PDS et, quand c’est pertinent, les relier au Conseiller médical dans le cadre du processus de recherche sponsorisée extérieure (ESR).
• Soutenir les principaux sites d’essais cliniques en apportant une expertise scientifique sur la molécule étudiée, soit lors de l’initiation du site, soit peu de temps après.
• Collaborer avec les groupes des opérations cliniques pour assurer le recrutement efficace des sites cliniques.

Compétences/Expériences essentielles

• Vous savez synthétiser et communiquer efficacement l’information scientifique au niveau des pairs avec un médecin et savez engager le PDS dans un échange scientifique constructif.
• Vous avez une expérience en tant que professionnel de santé (PharmD, MD) ou une expertise scientifique (PhD ou MSc).
• Vous avez deux ans d’expérience dans l’industrie pharmaceutique en tant que MSL, avec une connaissance approfondie du secteur de la santé, notamment des leaders d’opinion, du milieu universitaire et de la communauté médicale en général.
• Une expérience dans le domaine thérapeutique de la pneumologie est un atout. Vous pourriez être amené à changer de domaine thérapeutique selon les besoins de l’entreprise ; il est donc essentiel d’avoir une excellente capacité d’apprentissage et une maîtrise des concepts et connaissances scientifiques.
• Vous êtes bien organisé et autonome, avec de solides compétences en communication et en affaires.
• Vous avez une capacité positive à influencer et impacter les autres, et vous établissez rapidement votre crédibilité tout en construisant des relations professionnelles solides.
• Vous êtes disponible pour des déplacements fréquents (locaux, nationaux et mondiaux) et vous possédez un permis de conduire valide (un dossier de conduite valide sera demandé lors de l’acceptation).

Annual base salary for this position ranges from 136,985.60 to 179,793.60.

The range provided in this posting represents an offer pay range used in a majority of situations. The base pay offered will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, and other specific business and organizational needs.  In some cases, offers outside the range may also be considered to address unique circumstances.

In addition, our permanent positions offer an annual Variable Pay Bonus/Short Term Incentive opportunity as well as eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (if applicable to role).  Benefits offered for permanent roles include a competitive Flex Benefits & Retirement Savings Program, 4 weeks’ paid vacation, and annual Personal Days. Fixed Term Contract/Temporary positions (excluding students) are offered a Contract Benefits Program.
