Senior Manager Medical Communications & Information, Oncology Business Unit

Based in Lisbon with hybrid working, you will serve as a player-coach leading a Global Business Services Medical Communications & Information team that supports our Oncology Business Unit. Your leadership will directly influence launch readiness, congress excellence, and day-to-day medical information delivery across markets. By combining rigorous scientific standards with operational rigor and smart technology, you will set the standard for quality, speed, and scalability—helping transform data into meaningful insight and timely information for healthcare professionals.

Accountabilities:- Team Leadership and Line Management: Build, lead, and develop a diverse Lisbon-based MCi team; define roles and competencies, onboard effectively, coach continuously, set clear goals, and create succession paths and individual development plans.- Service Delivery and Stakeholder Partnership: Act as the GBS single point of contact for Oncology MCi; establish operating models and SLAs; align with global and local stakeholders; translate needs into team deliverables; ensure clear, proactive communication and preparation/implementation of CAPAs.- Scientific Content Strategy and Delivery: Plan, develop, and maintain scientific communications aligned to oncologic principles, core narratives, and medical strategy; lead launch and congress deliverables; translate complex science into clear, balanced messages across formats and channels; ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory, legal, and medical standards; deliver timely medical information to HCPs.- Digital Innovation and Operational Excellence: Advance MCI processes to drive efficiency, capacity, and continuous improvement; leverage AI and platforms to enhance content creation, review, delivery, and measurement; own day-to-day operations, address execution challenges, and escalate as needed.- Hands-on Expertise: Step in during peak demand to deliver medical information services, content development/review, and responses to escalated market queries, modeling high standards and speed.- Insights, Evidence, and Submissions: Identify and report medical/scientific insights to inform strategy and content needs; coordinate submissions to external drug information resources and evidence-based practice centers; consult with Regulatory/Labeling and Publications; lead compendia submissions where applicable.- Meetings and Scientific Engagement: Provide staffing support and coordination for scientific meetings and MCI booth activities; ensure high-quality customer engagement and delivery of accurate information.- Vendor and Budget Management: Manage agencies and external partners to meet goals, budgets, and timelines; supervise content creators to ensure quality and strategic alignment.- Metrics, Governance, and Systems: Report against agreed critical metrics to optimize scientific data communication; ensure version control, quality governance, and standard methodologies; develop and maintain content plans integrated into enterprise systems.

Essential Skills/Experience:- Advanced scientific degree or equivalent experience (PharmD preferred; MD, PhD, or equivalent)- A minimum of 8-10 years of relevant scientific communications/medical information experience in the pharmaceutical industry or comparable healthcare/clinical/hospital or medical communications environment- Strategic thinker with strong business acumen, project management, and organizational skills- Excellent verbal and written communication skills- Clinical and healthcare systems expertise- Ability to apply local regulatory, legal, and compliance requirements to Medical Affairs activities and scientific communications delivery- Scientific literature evaluation and analysis- Scientific/medical writing, communication, and content creation (e.g., MIRs, SRs, chatbot conversations)- Proficiency usinging technology/platforms- Medical accuracy review

Desirable Skills/Experience:- Experience in line management, including mentoring and coaching team members- Experience developing digital content and/or digital content strategy- Oncology therapeutic area knowledge- Experience leading launch and congress deliverables- Proficiency in vendor/agency management and budget oversight- Familiarity with AI-enabled content workflows and measurement- Experience with enterprise content planning tools (e.g., iMAP or similar)
