Rare Diseases is a high-growth therapy area with rapid innovation and significant unmet medical need. Over 7,000 rare diseases are known today, yet less than 1% have an approved treatment.As we continue to build our position as a Rare Disease leader, we seek a Rare Disease Key Account Manager to join our Commercial Team. The Key Account Manager serves as the strategic leader of assigned accounts, bringing together internal and external stakeholders to improve patient identification, diagnosis, access and treatment outcomes. Success in this role requires strong account leadership, entrepreneurial thinking, cross-functional collaboration and the ability to influence without authority within a complex healthcare environment.

Typical Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute local strategies and account plans for the Rare Disease portfolio by identifying key opportunities, diagnosis gaps, referral barriers and access challenges, translating insights into impactful actions.
  • Act as the strategic leader of assigned accounts, integrating customer, healthcare system and patient journey insights to create sustainable value for patients and healthcare partners.
  • Build deep understanding of stakeholder profiles, needs, healthcare ecosystems, policy developments and market trends, and translate these insights into actionable account strategies.
  • Lead account planning activities and coordinate cross-functional resources to ensure aligned execution of account priorities and brand strategies.
  • Maximize impact in a lean team environment by prioritizing resources effectively and leveraging cross-functional expertise to address customer and patient needs.
  • Identify barriers to diagnosis, treatment and patient access, proactively driving solutions through appropriate stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Drive account and territory performance by executing agreed brand and account plans, identifying growth opportunities, strengthening stakeholder engagement and supporting patient identification and access, while maintaining a strong patient-centric and compliant approach.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of disease areas, healthcare systems, reimbursement environments and market dynamics relevant to assigned accounts.
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable regulations, company policies and ethical standards governing interactions with healthcare professionals and stakeholders.
  • Other duties within the position scope, as assigned by the Line Manager.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Proven pharmaceutical commercial experience in Rare Disease (must have).
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrated strategic account management experience within complex healthcare environments.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive outcomes without direct authority.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills with experience working effectively in matrix and virtual teams.
  • High level of personal accountability, ownership, ability to work independently and thrive in lean organizations by maximizing available resources.
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset, solution orientation and willingness to challenge the status quo constructively.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to balance patient, customer and commercial objectives.
