Job Description

Head of Corporate Strategy & Business Development, accountable for shaping AZKK strategic direction and accelerating growth through both corporate strategy and business development. Lead and develop a team of 7, setting clear priorities across strategy, portfolio initiatives, and alliance management. On the BD side, drive alliance strategy and governance, ensure value realization from partnerships, and provide senior stakeholder management both internally and externally. Partner closely with Japan Leadership Team and global stakeholders to deliver enterprise-wide initiatives and enable decision making.

Typical Accountabilities

• Lead and coach a 7-person CS & BD team; build capability, set operating rhythm, and manage performance and development
• Own and lead the annual / mid-term Score card process and AZKK vision for Japan, translating business priorities into actionable plans and measurable outcomes
・Supervise the CS members who lead the cross functional projects and serve as a secretary of Japan Leadership Team
• Drive business development agenda with a primary focus on alliance management (partner selection, onboarding, governance, performance management, issue resolution, and value capture)
• Develop and execute stakeholder engagement plans; influence senior internal leaders and manage external partners at executive level
• Lead cross-functional project teams (Commercial, Medical, R&D, Legal, Finance, Compliance) to deliver strategic and alliance initiatives
• Support evaluation, structuring and negotiation of external collaboration opportunities in collaboration with Legal/Finance, ensuring risk management and compliance
• Establish governance (steering committees, KPIs, decision forums) and provide clear reporting and insights to JLT and relevant global teams
• Identify strategic risks and opportunities from external environment and competitive landscape; recommend actions and drive change management

Requirements

Essential
• Educated to degree level
• Proven experience leading and developing teams (setting direction, coaching, performance management)
• 10+ years of experience in corporate strategy, business development, consulting, or equivalent roles in healthcare / life sciences
•    Strategic consulting experience and commercial experience in a healthcare industry is a big plus
• Strong stakeholder management skills with senior internal and external executives; ability to influence without authority
• Strong commercial acumen and structured problem solving (qualitative and quantitative analysis)
• Excellent communication skills in English and Japanese

Desirable
•    Preferred for Master's degree, e.g. MBA
•    Hands-on alliance management experience (governance, stakeholder alignment, performance tracking, conflict resolution)
