Position Title: Senior Manager, Payer Relations, Ontario and Federal Plans (Oncology)

Position Type: Regular Full-Time

You will report to the Director of Payer Relations, in this is a critical strategic position within AstraZeneca Canada. You are accountable for the development and execution of our payer engagement strategy for AstraZeneca’s priority therapeutic area of focus (Oncology) to support rapid and optimized patient access to our life changing medicines through public reimbursement.

Your responsibilities:

  • Lead, build and execute regional payer engagement strategies for priority brands aligned with Market Access/Pricing strategies to facilitate optimized public reimbursement

  • In collaboration with the Market Access team and Medical, you lead the execution of early payer engagement meetings to discuss clinical and economic value propositions of priority brand submissions

  • Collaborate in the build of the payer value brand propositions to drive optimal implementation of reimbursement strategies aligned to our strategic direction

  • Through multi-stakeholder engagement (drug plan managers, KEEs, cancer agencies, patient groups, etc.), you provide ongoing regional/national insights to positively inform cross-functional strategies and reimbursement strategies

  • As a key member of the brand team, you share forward-thinking guidance as SME on field related input into commercial strategies

  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration with field colleagues to align respective strategies to support reimbursement objectives

  • Support building pCPA negotiation strategies and regional contractual negotiations to optimize lifecycle management of established brands

  • Conduct early implementation discussions with provincial drug programs/cancer agencies to facilitate rapid implementation of PLAs following completion of negotiations

Your qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree/Advanced degree in science, economics, social sciences or business

  • You have 7-10 years of Pharmaceutical experience, with a minimum 5 years market access experience (market access, government affairs, marketing, sales, medical) with a record of success

  • You are experienced with leading projects that involve cross functional collaboration

  • Experience building and executing payer engagement strategies

  • You have a passion for Oncology and are willing to share your experience

  • You have deep knowledge of pCODR, CDR, INESSS and pCPA processes

  • You have a network of regional Payer/Cancer agency/KEE contacts and in-depth knowledge of Ontario and Federal plan Payer networks is highly desirable

  • Ability to think creatively in developing and implementing business solutions

  • Strong communication skills: interpersonal, writing and presentation

  • Adaptive style with ability to influence and build relationships with a range of internal and external influencers and Payers.

  • High degree of initiative and works with urgency; an ability to manage multiple priorities of significant scope in a fast-paced environment
