Are you ready to make an enterprise-wide impact? As Senior Manager, Negotiation at AstraZeneca, you will drive and implement negotiation strategies for our expanding portfolio of products. Reporting to the Director, Negotiation Centre of Excellence, you will play a leading role in pCPA discussions and serve as a strategic resource for public access negotiation planning and execution. Accountabilities:

As a Senior Manager, Negotiation:

You will be at the forefront of crafting public access for AstraZeneca’s priority brands, leading comprehensive public negotiation approaches that secure efficient reimbursement and elevate patient access. In this role, you will translate brand value into compelling, evidence-based negotiation positions, partner closely with Market Access and cross-functional teams, and build trusted external relationships that advance both near-term outcomes and long-term strategic influence. Your work will blend strategic design, disciplined execution, and continuous learning to strengthen AstraZeneca’s negotiation excellence and deliver measurable impact across the portfolio.

  • Negotiation Strategy & Execution: Design and lead public negotiation strategies for priority brands, aligning with Market Access to secure optimal public reimbursement; lead public pCPA negotiations and major provincial/agency discussions.
  • Value Messaging & Evidence: Develop value narratives and negotiation materials grounded in clinical, economic, and real-world evidence to influence positive reimbursement decisions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with field and head office teams across access, legal, finance, commercial, and regulatory to ensure strategic, compliant, and financially sound negotiation approaches.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Conduct discussions with drug plan managers, cancer agencies, and the pCPA, addressing policy, pipeline advancements, and evolving market dynamics while safeguarding corporate reputation.
  • Risk Management: Assess negotiation risks, scenario-plan outcomes, and implement mitigation strategies; address critical issues effectively and maintain strategic alignment.
  • Strategic Guidance: Provide expert advice to senior leadership and brand/access working teams, shaping commercial strategies and advise on pricing, and strategic access decisions.
  • External Environment Insight: Supervise and interpret the policy and therapeutic landscape, budget cycles, and HTA considerations to anticipate barriers and opportunities.
  • Process Improvement & Enablement: Capture lessons learned, maintain clear documentation, codify standard processeses, and improve workflows, templates to drive efficiency and consistency in negotiations.
  • Performance Measurement: Define success metrics, track outcomes, and report progress against objectives; use analytics to refine strategy and inform forward-looking planning.
  • Relationship Building: Strengthen partnerships with external partners and internal leaders to foster trust, transparency, and long-term collaboration that benefits patients and the health system.
  • Key Contributor to Access Team: Act as a central member of the Access team, lead and implement negotiation strategy based on pCPA and environmental insights, work with pricing to provide negotiation team insights on pricing strategy, contribute cross-functionally to brand planning, launch readiness, and lifecycle management.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelors’ degree/Advanced degree in science, economics, social sciences or business
  • 5-10 years of Pharmaceutical experience, with market access experience (market access, government affairs, marketing, sales, medical) and a proven track record of success
  • Oncology experience is an asset
  • Bilingual, French and English, an asset
  • Experience leading projects that involve cross functional collaboration
  • Experience developing and executing negotiation strategies in the pharmaceutical industry an asset
  • In-depth knowledge of CDA-AMC, INESSS and pCPA processes a must
  • Network of national/regional Payer/KEE contacts and in-depth knowledge of stakeholder networks is highly desirable

  • Extensive knowledge of Canada’s government and public healthcare systems
  • Highly driven, proactive, and resilient; excels at managing multiple complex priorities with urgency
  • Energized by ambiguity and complexity, bringing clarity and momentum to evolving situations

Annual base salary for this position ranges from $142,751 to $187,360. AstraZeneca is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation opportunities to all colleagues. Our compensation policies and practices have been designed to allow colleagues to progress through the salary range over time as they progress in their role. The range provided in this posting represents an offer pay range used in a majority of situations. The base pay offered will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, and other specific business and organizational needs.  In some cases, offers outside the range may also be considered to address unique circumstances.

In addition, our permanent positions offer an annual Variable Pay Bonus/Short Term Incentive opportunity as well as eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (if applicable to role).  Benefits offered for permanent roles include a competitive Flex Benefits & Retirement Savings Program, 4 weeks’ paid vacation, and annual Personal Days. Fixed Term Contract/Temporary positions (excluding students) are offered a Contract Benefits Program.
