Summary of Position:
Reporting to the Director, Centre of Excellence, Medical Education, the National Medical Education Manager (NMEM) – will be a key leader in building “best in class” educational capabilities in the Respiratory & Immunology Business Unit to help improve the lives of Canadians living with severe asthma.
The successful candidate for this role will be an entrepreneurial leader with a passion for external stakeholder engagement and putting patients first. You play to win but do the right thing and act with integrity, even when it is difficult.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the planning, development, and implementation of the medical education plan aligned to the brand strategic plan, including conducting the learning needs assessment, asset development, identification of faculty and speakers engaged in learning programs and the measurement plan.
- Use adult learning principles to develop a multi-channel learning journey based on needs assessment, engagement preferences including digital channels, healthcare landscape & stakeholder insights in the assigned therapeutic area; aligned to the strategic direction
- Build high-value partnerships with key external experts and other stakeholders including medical associations, accrediting bodies, physician organizations and academic and community experts.
- Contribute to expert mapping and engagement plans in assigned therapeutic area(s).
- Collect, analyze & synthesize program data, insights, metrics & competitive information to inform and shape future learning activities.
- Effectively execute the medical education budget in the assigned therapeutic area.
- Diligent vendor management to ensure programs are delivered on budget and on time while being consistent with program objectives and compliance guidelines.
- Coordination and collaboration across various functions such as medical education, medical, marketing, sales, operations, learning and development, legal, access, patient advocacy, regulatory, and healthcare compliance to ensure scientific leadership in content, efficiently design and implement with excellence, learning programs that align with broader business objectives.
- Actively engage in the planning, assessment and execution of Medical Education Centre of Excellence initiatives to drive innovation in medical education strategy and tactics across the organization.
- Be informed and up to date on advances in medical education, technologies, learner tools and industry trends to support application of adult learning principles in program plan.
What We’re Looking For:
- 2+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry in medical education, medical, training, sales or marketing roles.
- 1+ years’ experience in a medical education role, with demonstrated experience in national content development and execution.
- CHE training certification completed within the past year (or will be completing it within this year).
- Previous experience working within specialty biologics/respirology is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in health sciences or related field.
- Experience working with National and International level Key External Experts.
- Ability to grasp new information quickly, including new scientific data.
- Knowledge of industry regulatory standards including The Innovative Medicines Canada Code of Ethical Practices, The National Standard for Support of Accredited CPD Activities, The Health Canada Guidance on Distinction Between Advertising and Other Activities for Health Products and Pharmacovigilance are required.
- Proven skills in the following areas: strategic thinking, organizational skills, project management and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, negotiations, written and verbal communication.
- Strong leadership, issue resolution and prioritization skills are required.
- Ability to work in team and matrix environment, passionate about building strong team cohesion and proven track record in networking skills.
