Introduction to role:

The Director, Divestments, Acquisitions & Collaborations (DAC) - Clinical will work with the Senior Director DAC and Business Development Groups to understand any potential divestments, acquisitions and collaborations that may impact clinical teams across Biopharma and Oncology. They will work with the clinical teams to support the translation of executed deals with a particular focus on divestments and collaborations. They will partner to manage activities associated with clinical transition teams and play a part in the execution of the strategy for the transaction that is sound and meets the overarching goals of the deal.  They will provide tactical guidance for these teams, and lead the day to day activities for the success of the deal.

The role requires a good understanding of AstraZeneca’s clinical business area; an understanding of our end-to-end clinical trial solutions; Data Privacy laws regarding Clinical Trials; and above all, excellent stakeholder leadership skills .

Accountabilities:

  • Working with the Senior Director DAC to implement the strategy on transaction projects, managing the day to day activities of the strategic plan and keep information flowing to stakeholders.

  • Project managing and co-ordinating the associated deliverables for Clinical from a transaction project, collaborating closely with the clinical transition team and clinical partners.

  • Working as needed with BD Alliance and Integration Management (AIM) to provide clinical-related updates on the progress of a transaction project.

  • Partnering with internal counterparts in Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, and M&A IT, Data Privacy Office, etc to promote a cross functionally aligned approach to deals and their associated post-deal obligations, and associated internal organisational activities.

  • Training teams on the relevant processes in the Clinical Deals toolbox and managing KPIs associated with the toolbox.

  • Ensuring inspection readiness throughout the lifecycle of the deal.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • University degree or equivalent experience in related field

  • Pharmaceutical industry or clinical research organization experience.

  • Good knowledge of clinical and pharmaceutical drug development process at various phases of development

  • Ability to work collaboratively; shown organizational and analytical skills, and proven skills to deliver to time, cost and quality.

  • Ability to understand business strategy and goals and execute against associated objectives.

  • Capable of developing the story and shaping the message that gets through to the audience.

  • Excellent organization and time management skills, with excellent eye for detail, and ability to handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously in a high-volume environment with shifting priorities with limited supervision.

  • Strong social skills (tact and diplomacy), culturally sensitive, and able to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with customers, peers, stakeholders & external partners/suppliers.

Desirable

  • Experience and knowledge in several of the following areas: Clinical Trial execution; ICH-GCP compliance; standard deal terms & conditions, and associated contract agreements; Data Privacy policies and general principles of law; Risk management; Portfolio management; Project management; Change management; Monitoring & measuring performance (eg. Metrics/KPIs/rKPIs); Communications; Training; Audits & regulatory Inspections.
