Director, Market Access Strategy & Private Payers

Are you ready to redefine market access strategies in a rapidly evolving landscape? As the Director of Market Access Strategy for AstraZeneca, you'll be at the forefront of designing and driving integrated strategies to optimize access for our diverse portfolios. With global pricing and geopolitical dynamics reshaping the Canadian access landscape, this role is pivotal in ensuring continued patient access to innovative medicines. You'll lead AstraZeneca Canada's Private Payer strategy, engaging with insurers, industry associations, and key stakeholders to develop mutually beneficial models. As a senior representative on leadership teams, you'll guide access strategy from early development through launch and lifecycle management, collaborating across functions to drive our access objectives.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the design and execution of AstraZeneca’s market access strategies to optimize reimbursement for the CRVM, R&I, V&I, and early asset portfolios.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Private Payer Engagement Strategy, ensuring alignment with AstraZeneca’s vision and effective engagement with private payer stakeholders.
  • Build and cultivate a high-performing Market Access strategy team founded on AstraZeneca’s values, fostering an innovative and results-driven culture.
  • Ensure full commercial alignment on strategic priorities as a critical member of leadership teams.
  • Articulate access strategies with clarity to senior leaders, securing alignment on key priorities and investments.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and leader with vision across the organization and external payer community.
  • Build organizational confidence and readiness for future shifts in payer expectations and access pathways.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Education: Advanced degree (MSc, MBA, or equivalent) in health economics, business, or life sciences.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years in Market Access, Pricing, or HEOR within the pharmaceutical industry, with demonstrated success securing market access across multiple therapeutic areas.
  • Canadian Market Expertise: Deep understanding of CADTH, pCPA, INESSS, and the private payer ecosystem; direct leadership of private payer/reimbursement strategies is an asset.
  • Strategy and Execution: Proven ability to design and execute innovative payer strategies that deliver measurable business impact; adept at leading change through ambiguity in a matrixed environment.
  • Leadership: Track record of building, mentoring, and inspiring high-performing teams; effectively leads as a central hub managing dependencies across specialized teams.
  • Influence and Communication: Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills; simplifies complexity and builds alignment across partners; influences at all organizational levels.
  • Operating Style: High sense of urgency, adaptability, and ability to quickly assess complex challenges and drive organizational alignment across functions!
