Reporting to the VP of Commercial Operations, you hold a leadership position at AstraZeneca Canada (AZC) driving Digital Transformation across the enterprise building value across all departments but most predominantly in the AZ way of Marketing. You will build and execute AstraZeneca's digital strategy, providing support to other business functions as an innovation and incubation hub; creating a new center of excellence that will inspire change in three key areas – the ways we engage prescribers and patients in pursuit of leadership in our therapeutic areas, the ways we deliver business efficiencies and the ways we optimize digital/data with government through partnerships and agreements. As the change management leader, you enable AZC to engage the market in a whole new way to take advantage of technology driving relevancy and evolving our business model. The impact of this transformation will be embraced by employees, Healthcare Practitioners, patients and payers/governments.  You will also be a key externally-faced leader at AZC connected to vendors and partners in the digital marketing, data and AI space. 

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Translate the Digital Strategy into an enterprise Digital roadmap and annual plan and secure alignment and continued enterprise support through your leadership of a Digital Steering team
  • Ensure all the key projects are managed to completion and maintain a digital champions network across the brand teams to ensure evolution of marketing consistently across the business
  • Serve as people manager of the Digital Transformation team of 7-8 people, you establish the team goals and objectives, and set targets aligned to strategic direction
  • Seek and select promising digital initiatives for seed funding, you liaise with Global Commercial Digital team pitching use cases and securing global support for the Canadian plan; you enable the team to scale successful Canadian pilots to other markets
  • Establish a Digital governance model and maintain and uphold principles
  • Enable Digital through implementing core IT tools in the Global Digital IT stack in the Canadian market place and you achieve gains from these globally provided tools
  • Identify and build new channel approaches, validating effectiveness and carrying them to ‘business as usual’ status across the teams
  • Own the business engagement model for digital initiatives
  • Act as subject matter expert for AZC to remain current on digital concepts, vendors and the external network
  • Be the innovative leader on how to improve data/digital insights with government and payers

Your qualifications include:

  • Bachelors' degree or above in relevant discipline
  • Significant leadership experience in roles directly driving the commercial side of a business
  • Experience leading digital transformation ideally in industries making the same change as envisioned , you have built value through new approaches whilst migrating existing models through the change
  • Solid business insight in digital media, tools and business design
  • Cross-industry experience preferred with knowledge of pharmaceutical industry a key asset
  • Strong leadership experience and you are passionate about developing people and practices
  • Resilient and energized by working in ambiguity and complexity; you are agile and adaptable to change
  • Ability to think creatively in developing and implementing business solutions; you can articulate and model business concepts
  • Strong communication skills: interpersonal, written and presentation
  • High degree of initiative and capacity to lead multiple priorities
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization, with third-party resources and external influencers; you are people savvy and know when to lean in and when to seek to understand
