Designed for individuals enrolled in or recently graduated from a Master of Public Health, (Bio)Science or similar program, this initiative offers a structured pathway to develop a deep understanding of the Australian pharmaceutical reimbursement landscape.  

Over 24 months, you'll gain comprehensive exposure to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) submission cycle, equipping you with the skills needed to advance into a Market Access Associate Manager role. Supported by experienced Market Access team Human Resource teams, you'll enjoy a well-rounded and enriching experience.

Our Graduate Program 

The Market Access Graduate Program is a new program within AstraZeneca's Market Access Team, designed to create a supported pathway to a Market Access career in the pharmaceutical industry for individuals enrolled in or recently graduating from a Master of Public Health, (Bio)Sciences or similar.  

The program will develop participants’ comprehensive understanding of the Australian pharmaceutical reimbursement landscape and build advanced strategic capabilities to enable development and execution of PBAC submissions and successful PBS reimbursement.  

Commencing February 2026 

What you’ll do

1. Support the development of PBAC or co-dependent PBAC/MSAC submissions by: 

  • Evaluating clinical trial, competitor, and prior PBAC decision-making information, global brand strategy materials, and global value dossiers to assess reimbursement feasibility 

  • Contributing to the development of reimbursement strategies aligned with global brand strategies and target pricing policy 

  • Preparing briefing materials and contributing to pre and post-submission discussions with reimbursement authorities 

  • Working with clinical experts and patient advocates to validate reimbursement strategies under supervision 

  • Gathering evidence and/or research and/or local value demonstration activities as required 

2. Collaborate with key stakeholders to progress a PBAC submission, including through: 

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams (marketing, medical, regulatory affairs, external affairs, and diagnostics colleagues) to develop and execute local market access strategies 

  • Participating in activities to secure and maintain senior leadership support for reimbursement strategies 

  • Fostering collaborative partnerships with regional and global market access and pricing colleagues 

  • Building relationships with Department of Health and PBAC colleagues 

  • Communicating milestones and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders as required 

Essential for the role  

  • Undergraduate degree (preferably in relevant field e.g., life sciences, health, economics, business) 

  • Intention to complete, completing or completed Masters of Public Health, or postgraduate qualification in other relevant field, e.g., Health Economics, Pharmacoeconomics  

  • Strong academic record (distinction average or equivalent) 

  • Excellence in analytical and communication skills 

  • Demonstrated interest in healthcare/pharmaceutical industry 

Desirable for the role  

  • Work experience in the pharmaceutical industry or previous experience within market access or health economics 

Eligibility to apply:
We're looking for graduates who: 

  • Have a passion for health and science and are eager to launch a meaningful career in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Who are Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents at time of application

  • Are currently based in Sydney or are planning to relocate there by January 2026.

  • Have completed an undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution

- By December 2025, or

  - Within the past 2 years, no earlier than December 2023.
