What role can Pharmacists fulfil at AstraZeneca?
Pharmacists are ideally suited for work in the Pharmaceutical industry as a result of their holistic scientific background. Careers in Pharmaceutical Science, Pharmaceutical Technology and Development, Commercial Manufacturing, Clinical Trials, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs are just a few of the many options available to Pharmacy Graduates.
What are we looking for?
AstraZeneca are looking to appoint Master of Pharmacy students who are currently in their second or third year of study and are interested in pursuing a career in industry. Enthusiasm, professionalism and a sense of fun are key to this role, as well as the ability to work as part of a team. You should be curious about industrial pharmacy and passionate about using cutting edge science to develop and deliver medicines which make a difference to patients’ lives. You should also have a good academic background and be prepared to apply your knowledge of pharmacy and the patient in a practical way.
What can we offer you?
Summer placement positions are available at our Macclesfield site in Cheshire. Projects are available in Operations, Pharmaceutical Science and Pharmaceutical Technology and Development (PT&D). During the 10 week placement you will gain a useful insight into the Pharmaceutical industry and the variety of opportunities available to Pharmacists within our organisation.
What is the Pre-registration opportunity that I can apply for during my placement?
During the 10 week placement there is also the chance to apply for one of our potential pre-registration positions. The split pre-registration year is a joint scheme with a local hospital, providing six months at AstraZeneca, six months in the hospital, and some time in a community setting. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain insight and experience within a wide variety of pharmacy environments, and is currently only open to those who have completed a 10 week placement with us. A valid work permit is required to be able to undertake the Pre-registration position.
Applications will be open until Sunday 2nd February 2020 and you can expect to hear from us end February. Interviews will be held in March at our Macclesfield site. The placements will take place over 10 weeks, from 22nd June to 28th August 20120. A salary will be paid.
