AstraZeneca’s Clinical Manufacturing & Supply (CM&S) organisation ensures the compliant and timely supply of medicines to support our global clinical trials. From drug substance and drug product manufacture through to packaging, distribution and delivery to investigator sites, CM&S is central to every step of the clinical supply chain.
Within CM&S, the Clinical Logistics team safeguards the performance, compliance and adaptability of our distribution networks. We are now seeking a Clinical Logistics Specialist – Temperature Control Management to strengthen our standards, processes and systems for temperature‑controlled clinical supply.
About the Role
As part of the Clinical Logistics TCM team, you will support the development and execution of strategies, ensuring that all drug distribution is shipped and stored under conditions in line with authority regulations, including trade, customs and GMP/GDP expectations.
You will act as a subject matter expert in temperature‑controlled logistics and the MonTe temperature monitoring system, partnering with internal teams and external vendors to deliver compliant, efficient and patient‑focused clinical supply chains.
Key Responsibilities
- Support CM&S teams in crafting and delivering optimised temperature‑control strategies for clinical studies.
- Lead logistics setup activities for new studies within the MonTe temperature monitoring system.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert for temperature‑controlled distribution, MonTe, import/trade & customs, lead times and market requirements.
- Drive improvement across temperature‑control processes and standards.
- Support the development and maintenance of CM&S Logistics standards, processes and systems.
- Build and embed data‑driven, Lean‑aligned processes within the AZ Supply System.
- Supervise and support delivery of CM&S Logistics performance objectives.
- Collaborate with logistics partners, third‑party vendors, CM&S colleagues, Clinical Operations and collaborators to ensure flawless execution.
- Support leaders in delivering the clinical logistics strategy.
- Operate in full compliance with SHE and GXP standards.
Essential Requirements
- Education aligned to CV (scientific, supply chain, logistics or related field).
- Proven experience within a supply chain environment.
- Experience in logistics within global supply chains.
- Experience with temperature‑controlled logistics in global supply chains.
- Familiarity with clinical supply chains for development programmes.
- Experience working with external vendors.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to identify and communicate key issues clearly.
- Proficient English.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP).
- Familiarity with global import and trade/customs requirements.
- Understanding of Lean tools and concepts.
- Solid understanding of the logistics industry and regulatory agencies involved in pharmaceutical distribution.
