Improvement Engineer

Location - Macclesfield, UK

On site - 5 days a week (Mon-Fri)


Join our dynamic team at AstraZeneca's Macclesfield site, the 2nd largest operational site within our network, as an Improvement Engineer. Our Packing Department, part of UK Operations, is responsible for formulating and packing many of AstraZeneca’s biggest brands for distribution to over 130 markets worldwide. As an Improvement Engineer, you will provide project management covering improvements, governance, CapEx/Revenue portfolio management and technical expertise to optimise assets, processes and investment priorities. 


As an Improvement Engineer, you will be a key player in driving improvement initiatives in maintenance and technology. Your role will involve assessing fit for purpose assets and equipment reliability, prioritising improvements via risk management and benefits analysis, and delivering asset improvement initiatives. You will also be responsible for leading or participating in Project Management for revenue and capital improvement projects.

Essential Skills/Experience:
- Significant & relevant delivery experience of equipment & process improvement practices within a highly regulated manufacturing environment (Pharmaceutical Manufacturing)
- Relevant technical/engineering degree (or appropriate experience)
- Membership of an appropriate engineering institution (or equivalent)
- Statistical benefit needs analysis understanding (data set justification etc.)
- Technical report writing & generation
- Reactive and proactive technical support within a manufacturing environment
- Experience of working and delivering initiative and project based activity
- Influence and stakeholder management
- OEE/Pareto understanding & improvement
- Practitioner in change control implementation
- Understanding of Commissioning Qualification and Validation

Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Incorporated/Chartered Engineer with an appropriate engineering institution (or equivalent)
- Project Management experience/qualification
- Experience within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
- Lean principles and 6 Sigma understanding
