Introduction to Role:
Join AstraZeneca's Enterprise Data Office (EDO) as the Head of Data & Information Risk. In this role, you will work closely with partners across AstraZeneca to establish and drive an enterprise approach to data processes, policies, standards, and working practices. This is an opportunity to be empowered to lead and take on more ownership in a role that is crucial to our journey in becoming a digital and data-led enterprise.
Accountabilities:
As the Head of Data & Information Risk, you will be responsible for the custodianship of the enterprise data risk Standards and Policy, product ownership of the enterprise controls to mitigate data risk, design and oversight of the enterprise data and information risk compliance processes, and leadership and management of the EDO Data Risk team. You will develop strong partnerships and working relationships with various teams within the organization, including the wider EDO Leadership team, Functional Data Office leaders, Privacy, Cyber, Group Internal Audit, Procurement, and IT Leaders.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent number of years of experience in a Computer Science or Data Management related field
- 8+ years experience in a data governance and risk role with practical examples in implementing governance and risk frameworks
- Demonstratable managerial experience in matrix organizations
- Proficiency in governance and risk techniques and testing methodologies
- Proficiency with data and application design patterns and processes
Desirable Skills
- Masters or equivalent experience in Computer Science and Data Management or suitable experience
- Demonstrable experience of leading and growing governance and risk teams
- Industry experience with data in large, sophisticated data settings, consultancy or vendor experience
- Experience in reusing of metadata and prebuilt components from cataloguing tools
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of the external market for data-related technology and standard methodologies
