Are you ready to make a positive impact in a team where it means more? Join our External Supply and Manufacturing (ESM) team, a vital part of AstraZeneca’s Operations strategy. We handle about one-third of AstraZeneca’s production value through external suppliers, ensuring robust supply chains that deliver value. As an Associate Director Sustainability Climate Data, you will be the subject matter authority on Scope 3 supplier data, supporting our carbon emission reduction goals and enabling us to achieve our company-wide sustainability ambitions. This role offers the chance to develop and analyse data while providing strategic recommendations to drive real impact and lead climate data strategy. Are you up for the challenge?

Accountabilities

  • Attain and analyse relevant sustainability data, including Scope 3 emissions, to generate actionable insights that advise and support strategic business decisions.

  • Collaborate with internal functions and colleagues to provide business recommendations based on supplier climate performance findings and scenario analysis.

  • Lead the way in building Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) capabilities for ESM, including project planning activities such as prioritisation, rollout strategy, customer engagement, and training initiatives.

  • Analyse supplier decarbonisation roadmaps and track performance, crafting approaches to model abatement opportunities.

  • Support the Director of Sustainability with strategy and program building based on data insights.

  • Conduct data mapping and report generation for daily use and Leadership Team updates.

  • Collaborate effectively across functions like Corporate Sustainability & Procurement to ensure timely delivery of sustainability data for reporting, while continuously improving data quality and implementing standards.

  • Lead additional environmental reporting beyond carbon, such as water, waste, and sustainable sourcing commodities.

  • Participate in relevant industry initiatives.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor level degree or equivalent experience in environmental science or sustainability or similar

  • Carbon literate with practical experience in carbon footprint methodologies and tools

  • Extremely proficient with data

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across different functions and levels of seniority

  • The ability to summarise and condense complex information and data into meaningful insights that drive business decisions and strategies

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Experience of working in a global organisation with complex/geographical context.

  • Experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) or as an LCA practitioner.

  • Experience of working within or close to the pharmaceutical industry would be beneficial, but it is not essential.

  • Working knowledge within a Procurement or Supply Chain team/function would be beneficial.
