Introduction to Role:

Join us at AstraZeneca as a Therapy Area Lead in our Gastrointestinal (GI) Cancers medical team. In this role, you will provide leadership and medicalscientific strategy for our progressive GI oncology therapeutic area. You will contribute to the late phase clinical development of assets and achieve defined medical/scientific objectives with a clear focus on patients. Accountabilities:

As a Therapy Area Lead, you will lead, build, coordinate and empower an oncology medical affairs team to ensure the success of the Therapeutic Area portfolio, building and creating a culture of people development, cross-functional collaboration and integration and commitment to shared purpose. You will define, lead and implement comprehensive and innovative National and Regional Medical Plans. You will also demonstrate entrepreneurial leadership, ensuring synergies within Oncology Medical Affairs globally and optimise cross functional partnerships. Proactively seek out collaborative opportunities with the wider UK healthcare stakeholders in line with our strategic priorities.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Medical or Scientific Education (Medical Doctor or Pharmacist preferred)

  • Preferred experience and/or knowledge of the UK GI Cancer Landscape

  • Proven cross functional experience and collaboration with Marketing, Market Access, Patient Advocacy

  • Product-Life-Cycle-Management and successful Launch-Management

  • Experience in partnership with clinical research and regulatory (national and international)

  • Experience in externally sponsored research and cooperation with study groups

  • Track record of leadership across the medico-marketing interface

  • Proven expertise in the ABPI Code of Practice

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry working with ethical products

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • GMC or GPhC registration

  • Member / Fellow of a Royal College of Physicians / Surgeons / GPs or the Royal Pharmaceutical Society

  • Higher degree in Oncology (e.g. MSc and / or PhD)

  • Clinical and scientific experience related to Oncology
