Joining AstraZeneca UK as a Health Economics Specialist you will contribute to the Market Access team by developing & communicating health economic analyses that demonstrate the value of our medicines at national and sub-national level. Accountabilities

Your role will span both national and sub-national access related work.

  • At the sub-national level, you’ll be leading on the development of budget-impact analyses and supporting materials to ensure that the field teams are well equipped to use them with payer customers. This will include designing the analyses and identifying relevant data inputs as well as training of field team colleagues.
  • At the national level you’ll be contributing, with the support of the broader market access team, to making HTA submissions (NICE, SMC) i.e., the development, adaptation or critique of health economic modelling.
  • In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in a range of collaborative projects with different departments across AstraZeneca (e.g. brand and operational planning, RWE generation, market research).

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Postgraduate qualification or equivalent level of knowledge in either health economics or similar subject acquired through experience and further training/development
  • Understanding of health economic analyses and their application within the UK context at national and sub-national level based on experience gained within the pharmaceutical industry or consulting
  • Strong communication skills (written as well as using core MS Office Tools e.g. PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Small-scale targeted literature searches and evidence synthesis (understanding of key sources of information e.g. NICE submissions, PubMed etc.); ability to identify and interpret key evidence (e.g. clinical trial, RWE)
  • Track record of personal delivery to agreed timelines and project management
  • Demonstrable record of collaborative working within diverse project teams

Desirable Skills/Experience (not essential)

  • Prior experience in healthcare / market access / management consulting / medical writing / NHS
  • Understanding of the UK healthcare eco-system at the national-and sub-national level
  • Understanding of pricing principles within the pharmaceutical industry, primary payer research
  • UK HTA submission experience
  • Experience developing cost-utility analysis and budget impact models in MS Excel
  • Advanced Excel and data handling/insight software
  • Influencing skills with the ability to influence and challenge without line management authority
