Introduction to role:

In this role, you will own the design, implementation and delivery of a unified Quality Management System for all GMP and GDP activities across our Egypt commercial operations, covering the full AstraZeneca product portfolio. Your leadership will connect day-to-day quality decisions to business-critical outcomes: market expansion, timely product releases, sustained inspection readiness and an unshakeable License to Operate.

You will partner closely with senior leaders to execute our country quality strategy aligned to our 2030 ambition, influencing roadmaps across the enterprise. In a fast-evolving environment, you will anticipate risk, simplify processes, and build capabilities that protect patient supply and strengthen our reputation.

Accountabilities:

• Quality System Ownership: Oversee the design, implementation and delivery of a common Quality system for all local GMP and GDP activities, ensuring consistency, robustness and inspection readiness across Egypt.
• Country Governance and Leadership: Serve as the primary GMP/GDP contact for the country; provide leadership as the Quality partner to the Senior Executive Team, Commercial Heads and Global Safety; maintain an effective governance structure that ensures visibility and control of quality activities.
• Strategy Execution: Participate in shaping global affiliate quality strategy and execute the country plan to enable market expansion, product launches and accessibility aligned with our long-term ambitions.
• Policy and Standards Deployment: Define, develop, deploy and monitor GMP/GDP policies and standards; assure compliance with worldwide standards and internal quality requirements for all local GMP/GDP activities.
• Management Review and Escalation: Own the Country Quality Management Review process, including preparation, execution, escalation and follow-up with Operations and SET members.
• Cross-Functional Representation: Represent Quality on cross-functional leadership forums and steering committees to align decision-making with compliance and patient supply priorities.
• Process Excellence and Standardization: Drive global standardization, simplification and improvement of Affiliate Quality business processes to improve cycle times, reduce complexity and strengthen compliance.
• Capability Building and Coaching: Provide training, support and coaching for the regional Quality affiliate network; develop capability plans to keep teams inspection-ready and competent in GMP/GDP.
• Budget and Services Management: Plan, review and manage the country Quality organization budget; set expectations and deliver high-quality, timely and cost-effective services.
• Compliance and License to Operate: Ensure adherence to GMP, GDP, GLP, Quality, Health and Safety and regulatory requirements for your work and others’; maintain the License to Operate through robust self-inspection programs, audits, and continuous improvement.
• Regulatory Ownership: Accountable for country-specific requirements for manufacture and distribution in Egypt, including batch release, issue and recall management, regulatory interactions, audit/inspection readiness and timely responses.
• Supplier and External Oversight: Conduct compliance reviews and reporting for external suppliers; review and approve investigation reports; lead or participate in issue management teams to resolution.
• Risk, Issues and Continuous Improvement: Ensure QMS compliance and continuous improvement; identify and escalate risks to Regional Quality; analyze trends and implement improvement plans to achieve MCOQ KPIs.
• Strategic Transactions and Projects: Provide Affiliate GMP/GDP input into divestments, acquisitions and licensing agreements; work independently and in project teams to deliver objectives.
• Troubleshooting and Foresight: Lead complex investigations, resolve issues, and anticipate future quality needs; keep current with best practices, industry standards and regulatory developments.
• Quality Culture and Performance: Set local strategy for GMP/GDP excellence; promote a strong Quality culture in the affiliate; ensure objectives are met and country trends inform targeted improvement actions.
• Leadership of Working Groups: Lead and contribute to working groups and projects to drive a global perspective, consistency and standardization in all matters related to quality and GMP compliance.

Essential Skills/Experience:

• Experience in quality assurance within a pharmaceutical company ‘’Marketing Company’’ and/or distribution environment
• Experience in GMP & GDP country roles
• Excellent communication and organization skills with ability to make decisions
• Strong business acumen with Integrity and high ethical standards.
• A good understanding of the technical requirements within Quality and an ability to balance this with industry standards to achieve business goals.
• Reviews GMP & GDP specific quality management data such as risk and issues data for trends and compliance with QMS standards.
• Ensures effective and timely complaint management by Marketing Company.
• Develops the capability plan for Marketing Company to ensure local GMP & GDP.
• Maintains the ‘Marketing Company Distribution Activities’ and training roles.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

• Post-graduate qualification.
• Operational expertise in Quality management
