Pharmaceutical Technology and Development (PT&D), within Operations, turns brilliant science into actual medicines that help millions of people. We work across the entire value chain, designing and delivering active ingredients, formulations and devices for new medicines and providing expert technical support to all AstraZeneca’s commercial drug substances and products to ensure we successfully supply medicines to patients.
The Clinical Manufacturing and Supply (CM&S) function within PT&D is accountable for the supply of medicines to support AstraZeneca’s clinical trials. This includes planning, drug substance manufacture, drug product manufacture, packaging, and distribution to depots/clinical investigator sites.
CM&S is on a transformation journey where people capability uplifts are key components. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Learning & Development Lead to join our team on an 18-months fixed-term employment/secondment.
As a Learning & Development Lead you are part of the Strategy & Transformation team and will be responsible for identifying and governing people development needs for the whole of Clinical Manufacturing & Supply, developing training programs, and implementing training policies, procedures, standards, and business processes in the area of training, learning, and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Improve business maturity for Learning & Development and work closely with the Principle Lean Coach and other BPOs.
- Align training initiatives with business needs to enable needed capability uplifts.
- Act as an SME for L&D to support line manager and project managers on relevant training for both BAU and project situations.
- Provide training and development expertise to key projects within CM&S.
- Simplify and streamline learning plans and content while maintaining compliance.
- Deliver training to CM&S or train SMEs in the network for onward delivery to individuals.
- Support functional onboarding and orientation for all new employees in the department.
- Develop an overall training plan to meet current and planned requirements of CM&S, documented in an audit-compliant format.
- Stay up-to-date on internal and external developments impacting CM&S, training, and education.
- Actively participate and promote cooperation and shared learning across the Training Governance Community.
- Serve as the Cornerstone functional representative and gatekeeper of accounts.
- Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a network of SMEs designated as trainers within the organization.
- Act as the primary contact for auditors and inspectors in relation to training within CM&S.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in training, learning, and development.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and teams.
- Expertise in developing and implementing training programs and policies.
- Experience in learning and development tools and systems, e.g. Degreed.
- Experience in GMP and training from a GxP perspective
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience from working with people culture in organisations
- Lean and business process management experience.
- Experience of L&D in a Supply Chain Management context
- Experience in Cornerstone/Saba
